Cowboys 'very interested' in Ray Lewis?

Word around the NFL is that the Dallas Cowboys are very interested in obtaining Baltimore Ravens inside linebacker Ray Lewis if he becomes a free agent. The speculation is that the Cowboys are willing to give Lewis a three-year deal worth between $27 and $30 million, with $25 million guaranteed.

Dallas owner Jerry Jones believes his team is in the serious hunt for a Super Bowl le next season, and that Lewis could help solve some of the team's problems inside the locker room.

The Ravens are expected to begin negotiations with Lewis, who is in the last year of his contract, as soon as the season is over. Fellow linebackers Bart Scott and Terrell Suggs are also in the final years of their contracts.

Suggs' decision to play against the Steelers was a courageous one. Oh, and by the way, he happened to come up with two big sacks.

Where the are they getting all this money? Don't they have to sign Ware, too?

I'm going to thank Jerry ahead of time for his hand in the impending lockout.

yeah they could only offer him so much and still be able to extend ware at the salary he should get. ideally it would be great to have him but it's a long shot.

Lewis would fix alot of what is wrong with the Cowboys locker room. It's too bad Romo or Wade couldn't be the leader this team needed to get to the next level but Lewis would definitely fill that void. That said, as much as I'd love to see him in a Dallas uniform, I wouldn't do it at the expense of Ware...

Even with the offer I don't think Lewis will leave what he has with the Ravens. They were almost there with a Rookie QB. They are just a few players away from the getting the back.

Who would want to come to this circus? I mean a player like Lewis. A player that will get paid or not have to worry about all the crap that goes around the Cowboy locker room.

So Lewis is a free agent as soon as the SuperBowl finishes in a week?

I would think a lot of teams could use him, like the San Diego WussyNorv Chargers.

Given the fact that he was indicted for murder, it seems only appropriate. BTW, are the Cowboys switching back to 4-3? Ray's a MLB if memory serves. If they scrap the 3-4, Thomas probably would like to stay.

I don't think Ray Lewis would have nearly the pull in the Cowboys locker room that a lot of people think. It all starts with the coach and as long as creme puff is there General Patton couldn't motivate that bunch of misfits. Besides, why would Lewis leave Baltimore? He's revered as a god there and they were a ty game away from the Superbowl.

Isn't the 34 defensive scheme the reason why Wade was hired to be the coach in the first place? Oh well, what can you expect when you hire a coach because of a defensive scheme. Nobody should be surprised with all the bumbling moves "jerry the talent king" makes.

True, but our owner has already said that we won't break the bank to re-sign him. We have other needs too. We have to re-sign Suggs, and a few guys along our offensive line. I hate to say it, but if Ray is looking for a big pay day he won't find it in Baltimore. We are close enough to the cap as it is.

Tell you what, you guys send us Demarcus Ware in exchange for Ed Reed? Everyone seems to forget that Reed is 30. It doesn't seem like he is that old but he is.
