Also Jason Garret went to St. Louis to talk about a head coaching job. Everything is unfolding perfectly.

Time for the demotion. Shanahan should be here by the end of next week.

The final step for Shanahan taking over is Garrett getting a HC job.

If Wade actually takes the demotion in stride he'll officially be the biggest puss in sports. I'll be shocked if he's that spineless.

Romeo Crennel was ready to do it, and Wade knew that this was a temp job, especially if he couldn't get them deep into the playoffs. Looks like the Music City Miracle was his best chance of winning in the postseason.

Noway he would be a puss. If Wade gets canned this will be his last Head Coaching job in the NFL. If he decides to stay in the NFL he can get a job just about anywhere as the Defensive Coach. If he likes Dallas he should stay. If not he should go. Nothing about being a pussy. If he does like Dallas the fans should hope pride does not get in the way and Garrett. Offense sucked this year all around, players pointed towards him and even the Ravens said that offense was easy to read. He should have took a head coaching job last year when he had the chance and I bet the Falcons and Ravens are so glad Garrett turned them down.

Still, if you're a HC in this league who has had any kind of success at all you can't take that demotion in stride and face the same players as a DC after the owner just cut your balls off. If he resigns tomorrow he'll have a DC position by the draft, so why stay with a team that no longer wants you as their HC? Start over fresh.

Cowboys don't have the right offensive lineman for a Shannahan offense. And I'm not too sure about their contract situations but it will take some time to get the right personnel for the zone blocking scheme.

He took over the defense and they responded. I'm sure they'd like to have him focusing on them all the time. Anybody with a brain knows what Wade can do with a defense, and for a guy to realize where his strengths are shouldn't be a big deal.

But from Wade's perspective, why would he take a demotion to a position he can get anywhere with the team that thinks so little of him as a head coach that they are demoting him? There's a certain amount of pride involved with everyone, and I just don't see Wade swallowing his pride to that extent. As a Cowboys fan I think it would be cool if he does, but as a man I say the second Jerry starts coming with the demotion Wade should find a DC position elsewhere. He could even see if the Giants are interested now that Spagnuolo is gone and get the chance to stick it to the team that bailed on him as a HC.

Wade's not head coaching material. He should know that by now. He also took the Cowboys job knowing he'd only have it for a couple of years anyway. If Jerry came out and said, "Wade is my defensive coordinator and I'm paying him exactly the same money to do what he does best because look what he did with it" he could save face and stay.

As a Cowboys fan, that's the only scenario where I'd be happy seeing Wade remain with the team. If he has too much pride to take the demotion, then there's the in' door.

It's always easier to see that from the outside looking in than for someone who is living it. It's damn near impossible for Wade to realize or admit he sucks as a HC, especially since he's had some success and a of a good coaching career overall in the NFL. I'd like to keep Wade on as a DC, but realistically it just isn't going to happen. Wade is going to stay as HC until he and Jerry reach a buyout and he "resigns". Then he goes to another team as a DC.

It's not a matter of being easy to see. I'm aware of the situation from his perspective, I simply don't care about his perspective. Wade is in no position to be claiming his manhood or his pride. If he wants to be DC in Dallas, great, the fans would accept him. He's never going to be a head coach in the NFL again, so he might as well pick a place he wants to stay. Again, it's his choice, but I, and other fans of the team, don't care about his feelings, certainly not enough to want him to remain the head coach.

I'm not saying anyone should care about his feelings or want him to stay as head coach. I'm saying there is no good reason to stay as a DC for a franchise that hired you to be HC, stuffed TO, Pacman, Tank, and Garrett down your throat, and are now looking to replace you after the team has chemistry issues.

Would you want to accept a demotion from your current employer when you can go out and easily get the same position for a compe or who isn't trying to replace or demote you? I know I wouldn't.

First of all, Garrett was hired BEFORE Wade was, so if he claims that he didn't know he was unlikely to be head coach more than a couple of years when he agreed to take the job, then he's an even bigger idiot than I suspect he is. In addition, TO was already there. and Tank has had no issues that I'm aware of.

I'd take a demotion as long as the money's the same. If I had a choice between being a laughing stock head coach and being a stud defensive coordinator and didn't have to sell my house or move to another city, I wouldn't have to think about it long.
