The Sox are loading up on pitching as someone always goes down during the season. John Smoltz and Takashi Saito have also been signed.

Red Sox also picked up Rocco Baldelli, formerly of the Rays. As someone who follows the Rays, that stings a little bit.
But between Rocco, Drew, Smoltz, Penny, and Saito surely one or more will spend more time on the DL than on the field.
Jonathan Papelbon agreed to a one-year, $6.25 million contract with the Red Sox, avoiding arbitration.
boston and yankees should be disqualiffied for playoffs since they are over the cap
there is no cap in baseball.
