if it's a bad movie, THAT many people aren't gonna s out THAT much money to see it. seriously, did over time this movie change for you people or what? TDK remains one of my favorite movies of all time.

The Dark Knight was at best a decent popcorn flick. I'd argue it was much worse. Either way, the idea that TDK deserved Oscar nods for best picture is ridiculous beyond measure and anyone who would say so is obviously uneducated in the merits of truly good cinema.

The given of course is that Slumdog Millionaire will win Best Picture of the year. I'd bet my $$$ on that one. The other ones, I'm not too sure...they always throw in a surprise win or two.
2007 was a pretty good year for movies. 2008 was far, far worse. I can name about 10 movies that came out in 2007 better than anything that came out in 2008.
TDK being nominated wouldn't have been any worse than Life Is Beautiful or anic or Shakespeare In Love getting nominated (and winning for the last 2). To make it sound like the Academy has such a high standard for film that TDK doesn't deserve a nomination is obtuse at best.
More than likely TDK lost votes because nobody could take a dogface like Maggie Gyllenhaal as "the hot girl every guy in the film wants" seriously.
Benjamin Button was terrible. I had heard it was kind of boring but I was not expecting boring and stupid. I can't believe David Fincher put his name on that piece of garbage. The only redeeming quality was the performance of the mother, well deserving of her Oscar nomination. I haven't been that disappointed in a movie in a long time.
I was thinking about seeing Benjamin Button but I've heard alot of people say lately that its a bad flick....

I want to see Slumdog. I've heard it's a great flick.
One of those years where if they did not know for whom to vote, they voted for SlumDog. It was not THAT good!
