Really, they showed heart? You mean like going 1-7 at the FT line late in the 4th quarter and almost choking the game away. The only reason they won this game was because Kobe fouled out on a very weak foul call.
The Spurs showed plenty of heart. What the Spurs didn't show, was good shooting. If you can, go back and watch Sunday's game and see how many wide open 3s Bonner, Mason, Finley, and Manu missed. Almost all of their 3s were wide open, but they just wouldnt fall. Against Utah, those shots fell and they won.
In the 4th quarter the Spurs bench produced a ton of turnovers and got several rebounds. The Lakers reserves were very careless with the ball and with their shots. Unfortunately, once we got the ball, we were not able to take advantage on the offensive end. There was a stretch where we forced a turnover on like 4 straight possessions, but only came away with 2 pts.
IMO, our defense was there on Sunday. Unfortunately, our offense took the day off and that is why we got toasted.
So please dont confuse not being able to get a shot to fall with a lack of heart. If they Spurs had a lack of heart, they would have merely stopped shooting out of fear of missing.![]()
