Damn.
Report: Curry the father of slain infant
CHICAGO—Eddy Curry fathered the infant who was murdered alongside Nova Henry, the former girlfriend of the New York Knicks’ center, according to a published report Wednesday.
Citing sources who spoke about a confidential court do ent, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that a DNA test in September confirmed that Curry is the father of Ava, whose last name is the same as a suspect in the case.
Curry and Henry also had a three-year-old son, who reportedly witnessed the murders. Curry had denied fathering the slain child.
According to the report, the 26-year-old Curry had been ordered to pay Henry $6,000 per month in child support before the installments were increased to $15,000 two months after Curry was determined to be the father of both children.
The Sun-Times said that neither Curry, his attorneys nor Henry’s family were available for comment.
The newspaper also said that Chicago police have not named any formal suspects in the case.
However, the Sun-Times did report that a man being questioned about the murders once was Henry’s attorney in a paternity case against Curry. They also had a personal relationship, the report said.
The newspaper said that the man was arrested on battery charges against Henry for “allegedly grabbing Henry by the throat, trying to throw her down the stairs and threatening to shoot her cousin in the head, according to court do ents.”
In a story first reported by the New York Daily News last Saturday, the slain duo were found at about 6 p.m. Central time. The discovery was made by Henry’s mother.
The newspaper also reported that Curry’s son was found unharmed inside the apartment on the South Side of Chicago. In the aftermath of the incident, the Daily News said Curry was “despondent.”
According to Chicago police officer Amina Greer, the report said that the killer is a known acquaintance. She would not give the newspaper further details at the time except to say that the case still is under investigation.
Curry was made aware of the slayings after the Knicks’ 116-110 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday and was described as “distraught,” according to the Daily News.
It was the latest bizarre event surrounding Curry, who was slapped with a sexual harassment lawsuit by his former driver and personal employee earlier this month.
David Kuchinsky also alleged racial discrimination, saying that the 6-11 Curry hurled racial and ethnic slurs at him.
Kuchinsky said he was addressed by Curry as “cracker”, “white slave”, “white devil” and “grandmaster of the KKK,” according to multiple reports.
In 2007, Curry and his wife were tied up and robbed at their Chicago mansion at gunpoint by three burglars.
Curry, who is married and has four children with his wife, has played just one game this season after missing the first 35 with a right knee injury.
He was the fourth overall selection in the 2001 draft out of high school in Illinois and has been a disappointment so far in his eight-year NBA career. He has averaged just 13.5 points and 5.4 rebounds despite being tabbed as one of the next dominant centers upon his arrival in the league.
In fact, former team president Isiah Thomas mortgaged much of New York’s future in a trade with the Chicago Bulls for Curry, who joined the team in 2005-06 despite a heart ailment that left his health in doubt. Despite the ominous beginning, Curry excelled in his first season with the Knicks.
That season, respected former New York coach Larry Brown called Curry the cornerstone of the franchise and a potential All-Star. The soft-spoken center then averaged career highs with 19.5 points and 7.1 rebounds the next campaign under Thomas, who moved down from the front office to the bench.
Since, Curry’s role in New York has diminished. New coach Mike D’Antoni and team president Donnie Walsh reportedly intend to deal the 285-pound Curry, whose weight problems make him useless in D’Antoni’s fast-paced offense.
Wow. How horrific to lose a baby (and the mother, of course).
So the guy who did this is an attorney who rep'd her against Curry in the paternity case? Am I reading that wrong? However, the Sun-Times did report that a man being questioned about the murders once was Henry’s attorney in a paternity case against Curry. They also had a personal relationship, the report said.
The newspaper said that the man was arrested on battery charges against Henry for “allegedly grabbing Henry by the throat, trying to throw her down the stairs and threatening to shoot her cousin in the head, according to court do ents.”
I read it the same way.
It says he's being questioned about the murders, and that he had been arrested on battery charges for hurting her.
