After running amok for 23 games in the Developmental League, Malik Hairston is back with the Spurs today. The team recalled Hairston from the Austin Toros, after he averaged 21.1 points per game, good for fifth in the D-League.
Hairston, a rookie swingman out of Oregon, was originally acquired in a draft-day swap of second-round picks with Phoenix, then was waived as the last cut of training camp in October. The Spurs re-signed him Dec. 22 and assigned him to the Toros.
Hairston, whose contract is guaranteed for the remainder of the season, has yet to appear in a regular-season game for the Spurs.
UPDATE: Spurs coach Gregg Popovich joked before tonight's game against New Orleans that Hairston's call-up was just a precursor to another big pending move. "We're looking to trade Manu, and we're looking for someone to replace him. We think Malik can handle it."
On the serious side, Popovich said Hairston's work in Austin earned him a shot with the Spurs. He will be active for tonight's game. "If there's an opportunity to play, we're going to get him in there," Popovich said.

wtf ???
Where's Ed? I think Pop should be in the "Would trading some Spurstalk members help the Spurs?" thread
he was joking. i think.![]()
, Spurs Brazil, care to make that le any more heart stopping?![]()
But he said it
Pop made a huge mistake, just feeding the haters
you can't blame Brazil with the thread le on this one.
Pop says THE JOKE'S ON YOU
-Mars
is Jeff McDonald an actual reporter?
the trade-manu camp will simply ignore that.
That's why Pop wants to trade him.
He's not supposed to dunk just like he did
Manu to Pop: f you
-Mars
Nice. Now read a few words before that says "Pop joked"
That's why manu played good today. Trying to raise his stock
Pop just likes to troll people.
Maybe Pop stumbled upon a trade Manu thread![]()
Yeah, Pop was "joking"
He finally realised that every spurs fan wants Manu O-U-T.
Pop, old man, I love ya!
Pop satirizing spurstalk.
Word has it that CIA Pop spends up to an hour a couple times a week on Spurstalk. Some of the players do, too. He feels it is a good way to connect with the fans, and since Pop is an outside-the-box coach, he likes to have diverse ideas bounced off him, since a majority of the posters here are intelligent, knowledgeable fans.
Think about it. If YOU were Pop, wouldn't YOU read Spurstalk?
Pop also enjoys the political section as well, if only for a good chuckle in subs ute of a cold beer.
And I forgot to mention that Stern told Pop a couple years ago that his TV interviews were unappealing and short, and not to treat an interview like some secretive military operation, and to go loosen up on the Net. That's when Pop discovered Spurstalk. Have you not noticed that Pop's interviews aren't cold like just a few years ago?
