Quality win! First one since Christmas.
Tonight our beloved mavs continue their trip to Orlando, facing the Division leader Magic that is also considered as one of the top 4 teams in the league. We started the game with 6-2 but the magics ate up our 4-point leading gap soonly. The first quarter was really as tough as most fans expected, and it was closed at 25-27, mavs down by 2.
obviously 2pt leading gap is ignorable in such a tough game played by two team which are equally great. Our beloved tried very hard in the 2nd quarter but still not able to control the game, until our 17-5 run during the last minutes of this quarter. SVG was forced to call a time-out with 2:57 left on the block but we had already turned the trend around and erected a 5-point leading gap before his time-out. Just like his brother JVG, SVG's time-out didn't stop our striking waves but their offense got a little bit better after his time-out. Mavs finished the first half with 7pts leading gap over Magic, 54-47. Mavs outscored Magic 9pts in the 2nd quarter, 29-20.
We all expected during the mid-game blanket that the Magics would fight back in the 2nd half, but the game still steped on the same rythem of 2nd quarter. The dogfight we expected didn't appear, instead the magic acted like 03-04's magic team which was led by lazy-tmac. Our beloved Mavs were so tired of their bad performances that they tried they best to close the game as soon as possible. We outscored the Magic 7pts in this single quarter to broaden our leading gap to 14pts, and ended the 3rd quarter at 77-63.
We should still keep alarm if our opponent were spurs even when we are leading 14pt in the fourth, but Magic is not spurs though they tried their best to keep their fans from leaving the gym too early. Magic had got no chance to make any uncertainty in the 4th quarter, though they managed to shorten the gap to 10pts. Finally our beloved Mavs closed the game with a win, 105-95 over the Magic that is among the top 4 teams with the best records this season.
Dirk Nowitzki:
39:51 29pts 6rebs 3asts 12-21FG 5-6ft
our beloved Dirk is still wonderful tonight, despite his 2TOs and 12-21 FG which is not pretty good for Dirk. Dirk's mid-range shooting are still pretty cute but D Howard made it difficult for him to score under the hoop. and he also has to take some resposibilities for our poor defense on D Howard. D Howard is really hot tonight with a double double-35pts and 11 rebs, though that was still not able to bring them a win.
Jason Kidd:
35:59 13pts 5rebs 8asts 6-9FG 1-3ft
Kidd gets a "more than half of a tripple double" in the entire game, but what we should amphasize is his perfect work on the Magic's all-star PG Nelson who just scored 6pts, 3-9 FG. Besides Nelson just made 2 asts which is really minimal compare to kidd's 8 asts, never to mention his 5rebs to nelson's 2rebs, nelson was so sucking that SVG just played him 18min. Fans always tend to judge a roster by his stats, but tonite's head2head matchup has shown who is more deserving to appear at the all-star weekend.
Josh Howard:
34:08 13pts 4rebs 4-12FG 0-3 3pt
Howard sucks as he always did off the court, but this time he sucks on the court. Howard used to believe he was the best athlete among those addicts, but Michael "dolphin" proved him wrong yesterday. He really sucks at offense with 4-12 FG, 0-3 3pt, but he performed well at defensived end. His opponents at SF, lewis and hedo also sucked tonite, contributing 30 pts with 25 shots in combination.
Jason Terry:
32:37 23pts 3rebs 2 asts 7-15FG 2-3 3pt 7-7ft
terry played off the court as he usually does, with 23 pts. He shooted the 3pt 2-3 but still not able to make his FG over 0.5, 7-15 FG for terry. But he really did his work during the final minutes in the 2nd quarter to help our team take control of the game. I've never minded his FG since he was demoted to the bench, it's always easier to score with 2 stars taking most of the defensive pressure than fighting alone.
Erick Dampier:
23:11 6pts 7rebs 2-2FG 2-2FT
Erick played pretty well tonite, his stats are not quite special compared to his season average, but he's real good considering his opponent tonight is D Howard, though he allowed D Howard to score 35pts and left the game with 6 fouls. He played good on offense as well, 2-2 FG and hit both of the free throws he got tonight. Of course his big body also helped us alot at PicknRolls.
Antonie Wright:
29:15 6pts 6rebs 2-4FG 1-2 3pt 1-2 FT
We all know his work is just to earn some resting time for terry at the beginning of games, he perfectly did it tonight. besides he also contributed 6pts and 6 rebs during his 29min, his opponent G.Lee's 2-8 FG should also be accounted into his efforts.
Jose Juan Barea:
12:01 7pts 2asts 3-5FG 1-3 3pt
he played good with 7pts and 2 asts, but his game time is still too short considering his age and kidd's. Although Barea is not as good as Kidd, we should still limit Kidd's minutes in order to "save for the playoffs".
Brandon Bass:
22:16 6pts 6rebs 2-3FG 2-2 FT
6+6 is pretty good for him I think. I don't want to compare him to Dampier but their stats are too alike to stop me doing this. Bass is well worth the money he gets from our team. Mavs always overpay their players, that's why our team is so "beloved".

Quality win! First one since Christmas.
They'll be sure to remove the good taste of this win by losing to Portland and Utah back to back. Excuses will abound and "but they beat Orlando, doesn't that say something!" will be the most convenient excuse used by Mavs apologists.
Way to be a Debbie Downer mono.
Keep wavin those pom-poms!
As long as our beloved Mavs go 2-1 or 3-0 against Portland, utah, and Boston before the All Star break I'll be content.
Brother our beloved Mavs just beat an elite team, what more do you want![]()
wtf @ the whole Nelson part, he dislocated his shoulder
as long as we get Rogue's post game thoughts every night ill be more than content
but seriously this actually is a great win and we almost swept them this year. all the Mav fans are saying theyd rather tank than go 1 and done, i wanna see them play whoever cause we would be a tough out against anybody in the first round, even if we do lose i wanna see them in the postseason thats what the game is about. who the are we gonna with like the 14th pick (missing the playoffs) as opposed to the 16th (getting in as a low seed)?![]()
Did he cry? Did he need a wheelchair?
Seriously though, that sucks so bad. Will he be able to play in the ASG?
Doubt it. I'm bummed out![]()
Rogue >>>>>>>>> timvp
Howard sucks as he always did off the court, but this time he sucks on the court. Howard used to believe he was the best athlete among those addicts, but Michael "dolphin" proved him wrong yesterday.![]()
If my calculations are correct Mavs offensive efficiency has been 114.9 over the past 3 games and defensive efficiency has been 97.0 over the past 3 games.
To put this in perspective, the best offensive efficiency in league right now is Lakers at 111.5, and best defensive efficiency is Boston at 97.2
It's just a small sample size and obviously we're not better than LA at O or Boston at D, but never the less our beloved Mavs have indeed played well over the past 3 games... including good offensive games against good defensive teams like Miami and Orlando.
CMON MAVS SUSTAIN
After thinking long and hard about it, anything less than 5-0 will be dissatisfying before hte All Star Break
Wednesday its the Blazers... they needed a CP3 injury to beat the Hornets tonight, and this was their FIRST win in over 2 months over a +.500 team on the road if I'm not mistaken. So we gotsa protect that house
Then the Jazz on Thursday... AK and Boozer will be out, maybe Deron too... its a back to back, they're good at home, and they still have a talented roster, but cmon.... lets kick some Mormon ass.
Then Bulls/KIngs. We've used up our "mulligan games" against them... really dont see why we should have an excuse for losing to either.
Then the Celtics... they embarrassed us last Sunday, flat out punked us. Well, if our team has any wherewithal, it will find a way to win. We're 0-3 against them in the Big 3 era, time to put your foot down and get a ing win.
I'll probably be content with 4-1, but lets get a nice 8 game streak going before the All star break!.... then again, it may still be fools gold regardless... the 03-04 team had a 9 game win streak before the all star break.
Sometimes I'm asking myself if the writers in the NBA even watch the game before writing a story about it. They wrote that Nelson was fouled by Dampier when he injured his shoulder -> Link. Here it's clearly visible that he stepped on the ball and thus he hit the ground -> Link. That was definitely not a foul (he didn't even touch him), although the refs called it. Well, we won, thus I don't care anymore about the call, but it's sometimes weird to read those stories.
it appeared he injured his shoulder when he tried to strip the ball from Damp and I suppose Damp's strength caused the dislocation. Adding insult to injury he stepped on the ball and fell on that same shouler....OUCH!!!! Anyways it cleary wasnt a foul on Damp but anytime a player hits the floor they are going to assume a foul occured.....see Manu BS call on his layup that screwed the Warriors
Quality win for Dallas... they need to build on this...
Dallas Academy at least pays way less to their losers.![]()
Wow...how did ya do that...you're sooooo smart. For a Dallas Re Academy mavs fan.![]()
You should start a thread with some of these awesome burns you're laying down.
Thanks, Fin .![]()
Tommy Point for Rogue. Fantastic sense of humour. I laugh hysterically with each one of his threads.
