Decent choice. Tough luck for Mo Williams. He was also deserving.
Commissioner Chooses Gay Allen To Replace Nelson
Mo Williams and Rajon Rondo were candidates, but David Stern and the NBA went with the familiar face of Ray Allen as Jameer Nelson's All-Star replacement.
Allen will be making his ninth All-Star appearance.
The Celtics' shooting guard was also an injury replacement during the 2008 All-Star game, but is widely believed to be more deserving of the spot this season despite the presence of other guards.
Allen scored 28 points in the game and was considered an MVP candidate that day, but the award went to LeBron James.

if im a player i dont care about the all star game, unless its tied to bonuses. for players its really about all nba teams first second and third
That 3 pointer at the buzzer nailed it for Jesus Shuttlesworth
I hate Gay Allen with a passion but he's deserving over Mo Williams. Gay Allen sucked early in the season but he has kept the Celtics good after their 2-9 slump.
He deserves it.....the only reason Mo Williams is being considered is because they want a token 2nd Cavalier on the team.....no way in Williams is a top 12 player in that conference.
i would have said Mo but allen just hit a close to buzzer beater and is the C's BEST player IMO the guy is just so damn efficient
Allen's having a of a season, and was easily the best remaining candidate.
I thought that said Gay Alien and figured Rondo got in.
I'm not sure, but maybe it was also a kind of compensation for Allen to be chosen as the replacement by Stern due to the fact that he didn't get a place for the 3-point-shootout.
Good choice by Stern no way does Mo Williams deserve to go over Allen.
So this is the 3rd straight year that Allen has been a replacement?
Mo Williams >>> Gay Allen
