The only instance I can think of where one party has heaped death-wishes on an already dying politician happened recently, when Ted Kennedy was diagnosed. I seem to remember quite a few republicans kicking dirt on his soon to be filled grave.
And I'm not saying that it hasn't happened in other instances, but from what I can recall off the top of my head, Republicans are the only posters who have displayed such de able behavior.

There is, I suspect, ample evidence in the archives to show that posters who lean to the left can, in some instances, wish true ill on persons who act from the political right and that posters who lean to the right can, in some instances, wish true ill on persons who act from the political left.
It's absurd, IMO, to think that's a one-way street or that one side is better about it than the other.

I should have mentioned it earlier, but think how often liberal posters have advocated Bush's assassination, harm, etc. , I'll admit it, nothing would make me happier than turning on the news to find out Bush caught a .45 round to the dome. So I'm no better, but admitting that, I would just argue that yeah, the morality bar has been lowered on both sides.
This is realistic, even commonplace. And it is why comity, all by itself, is so important in politics. It restrains imperfect people from giving in to their base cynicism about their peers. We gotta fake it til we make it.
We're imperfect, sure. But that's no reason to throw our hands up and quit. The work that needs to be done, right now, is too important to be lost in petty recriminations.
