I think teams are hitting a solid % against the Spurs because the Spurs allow a lot of points in the paint without a secondary shotblocker for the Spurs

Rivers was talking in that timeout. Completely disrespecting the Spurs. Talking like the Spurs are a scrub team.
he knows defense can keep them in the game. it's up to the spurs to make their shots. but they haven't faced manu in the third yet.

So you are saying the Spurs defense this year has been the same, but teams are just consistently hitting tough shots?

Uh no, but the defense isn't as bad as you think.

I've seen alot of games where teams are making some tough shots. Can't do anything about it.

    Take a valium.

we're missing a lot of rotations, as usual..allowing open shots, not defending screens..
Well, lets hope this coming second stretch of the season they make the necessary adjustments.

everybody knows we need more work defensively..we're still one of the better defensive teams in the NBA, as shown by our #4 ranking..we're just not playing "Spurs D"..the reason is Bowen being on the bench, and poor perimeter D..I don't buy the interior D argument..it's important, but not the entire reason..

we're missing a lot of rotations, as usual..allowing open shots, not defending screens..
Exactly, this is a game where I fully expected the defense to step up. They are playing a nice game all around (energy, offense, decision making, adjustments) but I keep wondering when they are going to pick up the defense.

The number 4 ranking is not accurate. That is not adjusted for pace. Like Pop says, look at opponents FG% and look at defensive efficiency. We drop big time.

no, the number 4 ranking is adjusted for pace, that's where I got it..we rank 4th in defense per 100 possessions..we're behind Boston, Cleveland, and Orlando..

I agree about the opposing FG% though, that needs to go down..

I don't think there is a team better than us defensively outside of those 3 teams though..LA isn't better defensively, Houston has fallen off, so has Detroit..

I think the D will kick up in the 2nd half of the Season and in the Playoffs because Bowen will see his minutes go up.

That's the kind of thing you say against scrub teams. Are the Spurs a scrub team?

Dont worry guys. Whenever the Lakers beat the Celtics, the C's usually go on a 6 or 7 game losing streak. You can thank us later...
So the Universe revolves around the Lakers?

You have to be the gayest poster on this site. You know very little about basketball and are like a whiny girl. It is called a discussion, I am not upset, so why do you always have your little remarks. "Drink Drano, take a valium..." Grow up and maybe more people would enjoy your company.

it's tough to play good D when Mason and Finley get big minutes, since they're both poor team defenders..
Mason started well on D but in the last month or so he's always late on rotations

if the Celtics are losing because of "the Lakers hit", that's pretty pathetic for a championship team..it makes no sense..I realize it happened earlier in the season, but it would be sad if it's attributed to that..

Mason was definitely good earlier in the season..he's been poor with Tony and Manu in the lineup..

he definitely has more ability than he's shown lately..the problem is defensive chemistry..he still has bad tendencies from his days as a Wizard, who were always a poor defensive team..

everybody needs to remember that we're 10-1 when Bowen plays 25 or more minutes..he leads the team in defensive +/-..he's a big difference maker..

Pretty good first half. The defense for the Spurs has to pick up though because their offense isn't going to sustain. Bonner will likely dry up and with the Celtics trapping Parker, the Spurs will have to make offense later in the shot clock than they like.

Good start so far though . . .

It think it had more to do with chasing the 72-10 then the lakers.
