I assume you're talking about Afghanistan. There are a couple of recent threads on this topic. You won't find any " et worshipping" there, but plenty about Afghanistan and both proposed surges.

That's pretty much what happened in Afghanistan too, so what's the difference?
The people in Iraq could actually make something of themselves. They can rise out from the bull that goes on in the middle east and raise their standard of living considerably. There is literally jack to make of yourself in Afghan.
They will make the area safer, insuring the people can continue to raise some goats and haul some more rocks. Great use of the tax dollars during this time.
