With as much as you trashed it before even watching it, what were the chances you were going to "like" it? You had a better chance of turning on an OU football game and becoming a fan of the Sooners by the final whistle.

I saw the Dark Knight this weekend.
Thoughts:
I was right, this was the most insanely overrated film of the year, possibly of all time.
Bale's Batman Voice is outright distracting during some scenes.
The plot should have been easier to follow.
The quick-cut action scenes weren't as bad as some said in the other threads, but I still thought they could have used a wide still shot here and there.
Ledger was not as good in this role as you said he was, in fact, I feel flat out scared that my Ledger prediction will not come true now. He was good, but NOWHERE near as good as you jack-offs claimed he was. I liked his voice, though. I think if this were rated R and they showed some real carnage, I would have came away liking his role a lot more.
The "Psycho killer, deranged, scary" Joker that E20 jacked off to prior to this movie was not in this movie. It might have been because they did not show one drop of blood, or because everytime Joker did something violent it was quick and the shot changed. I mean, jesus christ, he shoots someone in the face at point blank range and theres no splatter? PG-13 to the rescue again, I guess.
Maggie Gyllenhall.
Could have used more Dent, especially post-accident.
The whole interplay between Batman and Joker could have been more intense. Some of it was just rushed, and other parts of the movie were dragged on, I wanted to fast forward it. The way Joker perverts Dent was comical.
So there you have it.

Better than you'd think. I'm actually pretty objective once I finally get into a movie. If I'm gonna be forced to watch something, I'm not gonna throw a tantrum and be a , I'll try my best to enjoy it.
I would give it a 7 out of 10. Most of that would be due to the high budget and high profile actors involved.
But seeing as how there were Dark Knight threads from pages 1 - 2 of the club STRAIGHT, I'd say I was pretty on point about this movie being overrated as . And if you combine the 7/10 rating with the insanely high overrated coefficient, you get
A piece of .
I actually thought Eckhart as Harvey Dent stole the movie....the best acting job in this film was his.
That said...I don't think you're being very fair to Ledger, this was the definitive Joker performance...and when you are talking about a portrayal in which Jack Nicholson is one of your compe ors, and Ledger clearly blew Nicholson's performance off the map, something that has never been done before...he deserves the credit he is getting. It was a tough role...
Plus he died...it's tough to top death.
I certainly don't think it's an outrage or anything if Ledger wins.
IMHO, the actor who clearly deserves the best supporting actor Oscar this year is Tom Cruise for his performance in Tropic Thunder...
And if you don't like it, how about I send you a hobo's cheese.
Point taken. And I would not be outraged if he won. I'd be vindicated.
I just don't think he was that special. But I can definitely tell you if this movie weren't going for all the hard earned money all these people blasted on it, and instead went for real art. REAL art....grotesque, visceral, gory, vivd, flamboyantly violent art...
He could have indeed played the role of a generation.
But in the words of Keith Jackson, nothing of the sort happened.
Well, it is a comic book story, so you have to take that into account...
the physcologicaly disturbing themes were not matched by the gore and blood count.
In Victorian Dialect it's like watching a bukkake with the sperms censored.
Let me chime in here. off.
Eckhart persuaded me to smoke cigarettes.
great actor
jack deserves the "best joker" award because he survived the role.
i saw "The Bear." i watched that every day.
actually i change my mind. Mark Hamill was the best joker.

yeah. Just like Kevin Conroy's the best Batman. And they're both doing the voices for the new Batman video game.
I asked him if he still thought that.He never answered.
You're right - that tore down a few scenes that could have been decent otherwise.Bale's Batman Voice is outright distracting during some scenes.
I'd say it was an above average action flick, and a well above average comic book movie. I think the fanboys crying foul over its snub for the Best Picture award are stretching its merits quite a bit.
As for Ledger, I fully expected his performance to be overrated but even with low expectations going in, he won me over. I'd have no problem with him winning.
They try to stuff too many villains in a single comic book movie. Almost all of them are doing it.
Go yourself.
You had pre-conceived notions about the film. You found the film guilty before giving it a fair trial, and it affected your final opinion.
Without question.
And, ultimately, it's an award worthy performance. Not my choice this year (I'd like to see either Downey or Brolin win), but still damn good work.
i thought tom cruise was the only funny part of that whole movie. i saw tropic thunder after i looked online and the theater showed pineapple express still playing and it wasnt when i got there.
anywho, i agree with CBF for the most part. except dent sucked. and they def didnt need more dent.
and no one will ever be better than nicholson playing the joker.
Saw it for the first time this weekend as well.
Above average movie, but it was way overrated. I think this one was a classic case of people wanting it to be awesome so much they convinced themselves of it.
Same theme with Ledger. I thought he was pretty good, but I didn't feel he had an epic performance like I was assured would be the case.
As previously stated, Batman's voice was bad.
It's really hard for something to live up to as huge a billing as this movie had so it's no surprise it fell short. It is a surprise how far short it did fall.
I'd give it a B-.
If you're going to make a 2.5 hour film, there should be more content. I agree with Can't Be Faded that some of the film was rushed while other scenes were dwelled on too long.
Worth the watch, but not the hype.
Yes way. Nicholson's joker was a buffoon and nothing more than self parody. Not intimidating or fearsome at all...
Ledger's was malevolent, exactly as the character was intended to be.
While I generally consider you, sight unseen, to be the elite of the V-crew due to your service to our country, while their idea patriotism is seeing how many bonghits it's humanly possible to inhale while simultaneously non-stop ing about neocons, during an episode of the O'reilly factor...
I gotta disagee with everything you said here except the part about Tom Cruise.
Don't judge me, that's your idea of patriotism too. Except switch the word neocon with liberal and the Factor with Wolf Blitzer.
