something like "I don't give a " or whatever?

Sorry I don't remember the game/season, but I loved the time Pop and a player were hit with T's, and Pop thought they were both on him so he left the court cuz he thought he was ejected. Then after halftime he sheepishly returned.![]()
I thought the line was more like:
It's important that we listen... so we don't foul Nowitzki the last f#%king play of the game... and we have another ring.
To be serious, my favorite Pop moment was seeing him dance like a madman on the river barge in the '99 Championship parade. Pop was under a lot of heat that season and was likely days from getting fired if the Spurs didn't roll into Houston and destroy them (and the rest of the league) after that embarrassing loss to Utah in the Dome. Pop had the look of a man who had the weight of the world taken off his shoulders. If it wasn't for that Houston game, I think Doc Rivers becomes the team's coach, David Robinson is traded, and Tim walks to Orlando or Chicago the next year.
Asked about his days in the air force (spy?)...
He said something like: "If I tell you, then I'll have to kill you!"
ouch. succinct and true though.
Post game interview of the lakers series in 2003, I think it was, a reporter ask him that he heard some of the spurs had lost their desire. Pop asked him "who told you that?" The reporter said, "well, is it true?" then pop says, "they're absolutely correct."
my favorite thing is how pop has brought along tony parker and knows how to push his players...this clip in the nba finals is definitely one of my favorites preceeded of course by any one of the verbal barrages he laid on tp the first few years.
also, when we got hammered in detroit during the 2005 nba finals, pop and timmy were having a very deep, public conversation the whole nation saw
I think this was after the spurs won it all in 2007 and a reporter asked him something about repeating the next year. Classic.
Great thread btw.
For me, The best moment is Roger Mason's best moment with Pop -- the 45 minute lecture on MLK before the presidential elections. Pop knows that basketball is not the end all of it. It is only a profession that brings about the best in those professionals meant for it. His gesture before November 4 is what I think made Mason the Spur he wanted to be. And to paraphrase Mason, ""It was Dr. King. It was a bunch of current events on the struggles that a lot of African-Americans went through in the civil rights movement,'' Mason said. "It completely threw me off. But when I went home and reflected on it, I was like, Man, he's a special guy.''.

I remember one quote where they asked him the secret to his long success. his answer...
David Robinson and Tim Duncan.
Lol.. I love that one.
any famous/infamous comebacks by tim, manu and tony?
"This is how I play. Don't put me in the game if you don't like it." - major cajones by manu
Just read it in an article:
Tim to Pop: I told you you screwed up when you drafted me.
I can't do that
That's the best shot Van Exel made all year for us.![]()
classic thread
sorry, what does parker say to him (#5)? (just can't understand it)
"I'm just trying to be nice to them like you, Pop." or something like that.
Sounds to me like he says, "I'm just trying to be nice to them like you."
I remember Bill Clinton talked to Pop on the phone. Clinton said Pop was very smart and knowledgeable of world events or something like that. Pretty much Pop impressed him
