I'd think that Jordan, Robinson, and Stockton are absolute no-brainers for induction.
National media has stated along with local reports that our very own David Robinson aka. "the Admiral" is a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame in 2009 selection comittee "
I'd think that Jordan, Robinson, and Stockton are absolute no-brainers for induction.
Happy whottt.

Stockton, Jordan, Robinson, all no brainers to be inducted...
I also think that Jerry Sloan is a deserving candidate and that it would be particularly apt for him to go in with Stockton; and I can't imagine that they'll keep Cynthia Cooper out in her first year of eligibility.
How many CAN go in, or is it as many as the writers want?
The Jordan selection is kind of troubling... he should be thanking Phil Jackson for that...
/sarcasm
The Admiral was the greatest all around professional athlete on & off the court of my generation, In which I have had the privilege of watching and to all of our luck he played for the SPURS.
It's too bad DRob will go in the same year as Jordan. The media will slobberjock all over Mikey, so DRob will get overlooked (as will Stockton).
It's not just writers who vote -- and there are only 24 votes in total for any particular candidate:
I'm not sure, frankly, whether there are limits on how many candidates the committee members can vote for. I know this much: just as there are 4 Honors committees, there are 4 screening committees that put forward the finalists that the honors committees consider. The screening committees have limits on how many candidates they can put forward in a given year. The North American committee can put forward no more than 10 candidates and the Veterans committee, the Women's committee, and the International committee can put forward no more than 2. That means that there can be no more than 16 Finalists in sum. In the last 10 years, the classes have ranged from 3 to 8, but don't appear to have been any bigger than 8.
Ditto that. DRob IS class personified. Can't stand the Spurs but DRob was a once in a generation type of guy both on and off the court.
Had the pleasure and honor of meeting him at our church here in San Antonio several years ago. What a down to earth guy.
High praise from a Fakers fan.
Much appreciated. Haven't met many that have one bad word to say about D-Rob. He was truly an unheralded sports icon - on and off the court. If there was ever a such thing as a sports role model - he was it.
I just call em as I see em. Heck, even I'd get in someone else's face, even a fellow Laker fan, if they had anything bad to say about DRob. Truth be known, I even have a soft spot for Pop. I Like his no-nonesense approach about the game. Other than that,......IT'S ON....![]()

You know what Spurs fan?...
Let the media overlook DRob. Somehow I don't feel "traitor-like" towards my beloved Lakers but I have to say this for righteousness sake:
The media can overlook DRob but mankind, as a whole, is better off, with the DRobs of the world. (There. I said it).
I know. Weird coming from a Die-Hard Laker guy but dang,...how can you not like DRob?
But in a way, its fitting. Robinson never sought out the spotlight and was ok when others had it on them.
That was going to happen no matter who went in with MJ. I think it's kind of cool that my favorite player of all time gets to go in with the best of all time.
One of the things I am going to enjoy is that all the assholes who took shots at him for being soft (ie. someone who trash talked, disrespected the game, or fathered kids in every city) will now be singing his praises and will have to refer to him forever as "Hall of Famer David Robinson"

My favourite player of all time! How sweet it was to see him raise that 1999 championship! Congrats to Big Dave and all his fans! We all know how great he was.
To the one i still role model myself with: hep hep HURRA!
