lol squash this thread for now haha. Bruce in on VC.
there you go..
Uh, that just means it isn't tomorrow. Spurs rarely make the trade until the last day or two, which would be sometime next week.
lol haha![]()
That's why I'm afraid to lose Bruce for 30 days.
He killed Carter tonight.
I'm only willing to lose him for 30 if we get somebody worthwhile in return..not somebody like Brad Miller..
I would not risk trading Bowen at all.
Some team like the Mavs or Lakers or Celtics would probably pick him up off waivers just to prevent him from returning to the Spurs.
True, his D was top notch. I hope they can find a way to make a deal without him in it.
you guys seems to be forgetting something. a player has to be part of a roster by march 1 in order for said player to qualify for that team's playoff roster.
if bruce gets traded and bought out, spurs will need to wait for 30 days to resign him. by then, it will be too late to include him for the playoffs. so if pop has any intentions of having bruce part of the playoff roster, he will not be used in any trade scenarios.
False.
The rule is a player can't be cut after March 1.
is that so? hmmm... okies.
About what?![]()
Read before you post...
Wow, you could've not been an asshole an just answered me.![]()
The answer you seek is pretty much the le of the thread. Bowen could be traded, waived, and re-signed by the Spurs.
That's a given though, it's not like he predicted a trade and was right or something. That's why I missed it, i thought he'd said something substantial.
It's "substantial" in that no one here has suggested it before AFAIK. It's not really a given, either.
I guess this kills the Spurs-Lakers "Barry was fouled" argument; he shouldn't have been playing in the first place.![]()
It really is a given, Pop could do this with any player he wouldn't worry about getting back, and Bowen is one to worry over, someone could screw the Spurs, and keep him for the duration of the season.
I guess it's perceptive he pointed it out, but not substantial.
Sorry 2021, but I refuse to give props to a guy that has hated on the Spurs for the first half of the season, and only this week has given them their due props.

While I'm all for the Spurs utilizing Bruce in a trade scenario, with the conditional Brent Barry return option built in, remember that he is STILL the Spurs best perimeter defender. That said, I would be a tad bit concerned about the Spurs not having their "cooler" on the roster for 30 days.
It's no secret the Spurs are statistically not as stout defensively as in years past. Losing the ability to shutdown "hot shooting" perimeter players could compound the issue.

If Pop is 110% sure Bowen will be back in 30 days, I can live with no Bowen, cuz Sheed/Miller/Camby/Kaman would more than make up for it. Joe Smith, not so much.
I agree. If we can get a quality big in a trade that includes Bowen, then we have to do it. Outside of tonight's game we've been able to get by with minimal PT for Bruce. By resting for 30 days, arguably, he'll be even better for the playoffs where he can play 30+ minutes a game if needed.
I understand the argument that the games will get tougher as we near the end of the regular season but the team needs to be in the best shape possible when the playoffs start. If we lose a few more games as a consequence of acquiring a quality big, again, I think it's easily worth the risk.
Also, if this means more minutes for Malik then I see nothing wrong with that either. His brief but athletic contributions tonight were exactly what we've been needing.
I don't think you really know what's going on here, but its not hurting anyone. Carry on.
