Rasho won't play.
I am glad that Sasha is back.
Some Slovenia fans here so I thought I'd post this. He betrayed Slovenia after he got his money with the Lakers but he's repentant.
Vujacic will return to play for Slovenia's National Team
When he was asked to play this summer for the Slovenian national team, Sasha Vujacic said he couldn't refuse.
He met with the new coach, Jure Zdovc, recently in Los Angeles and agreed to play for his native country. Vujacic played on the Slovenian junior national team before he joined the Lakers in 2004.
After a three-hour meeting, Vujacic said he was excited to play alongside such countrymen as Beno Udrih (Sacramento Kings) and Rasho Nesterovic (Indiana Pacers).
"He said that he wants to bring the best back," Vujacic said. "This year it's for the European championship and they really need me to play. I decided after a long talk with them to play."
Vujacic said Slovenia would be playing in the same group with Spain, which features Lakers teammate Pau Gasol.
But Gasol said he doesn't plan on playing this summer for Spain, the team he helped to win the silver medal at the Olympics last summer.
"I'm excited to first win the NBA championship with the Lakers and then I want to do my best to go there and help my team," Vujacic said.
Rasho won't play.
I am glad that Sasha is back.
It's bad news that Gasol will probably miss his national games this summer. Gasol is still the most respectful player on our beloved spanish basketball team, though he is playing for the lakers.

He was left on a bus stop at 1am in the middle of nowhere without any money (pre-cell-phone era) by his National team after he got cut from the squad at the age of 17 or 18. I can't blame him for not wanting to do anything with team Slovenia for so long. You just don't treat people like that.
He ll be a nice addition to the team, hopefully those guys can finally make a memorable run. Brezec, Smodis, Nachbar, Udrih and Sasha dont look like a bad starting five on paper.
Sounds like some incredibly soft paper.
So Beno will replace Dragic as the starting PG?
I wouldn't hold my breath for Brezec or Nachbar nor for counting on Smodis or Beno to be healthy.
Lakovic was slovenia's starting pg. And yes, i hope Beno starts.
Becirovic is much better player than Sasha is. If he is available he should be starter over Sasha.

Yeah, and i wish the best players not the "coolest" will play.
He also has a tendency of playing awsome against worse compe ion and not showing up when his team needs him the most. Not really dependant, but ye he is not a bad player.
We have a bunch of nice players on the team all in all, but noone really stands out of the crowd- bussines as usual i guess. Beno is uber streaky and dissapears from games, so does Rasho, Brezec and Nachbar are a bit better in that department, but not by much and then we have Smodis, who gives consistant effort, but has problems creating his own shots. The second unit (except Lakovic, whom i didnt see playing for the last year or so-- u probably have) has the same type of issues--- we ll see how it goes, all the best to them.

2. he surely will NOT be good for team chemistry
3. he is overrated because he gets to play on Lakers and be Kobe's buddy
I also would like Brezec not to play but for some other issues.
I would try to go with a relatively young team because with Zdovc i am pesimistic anyways. He simply is not a great coach imo.
Young team with players like Dragic, Preldzic, Slokar etc. With veterans like Rasho, Smodis, Becirovic and Nachbar would be great.
As usually I do not expect much from Beno. (stopped hoping)

Sasha is for sure better defender than Sani, but I would take Sani overall over Sasha. Rest of Slovenia team is not so great I think except I do like Boki a lot. But Boki is always a big disappointment when he play for national team it seem like. Still Gasol will not play for Spain and Siska will not play for Lithuania and even Bourousis will not play for Greece. So maybe now is time for Slovenia to medal.
Main thing is.... if Smodis and Rasho dont bring some physichal and mental tougness to our team it is better they stay home.

Ye, i allways liked Nachbar as a player as well. Lotsa potential, but never really lived up to it in full. We ll probably see the same soft selfabsorbed ego trip as allways - they never fail to deliver in that aspect.
Lets not get carried away with Rasho here.
