This season? Or all seasons? Nothing (yet) tops season 1.
Freakin awesome episode, but for this season, I can't bring myself to rank it higher than 'Jughead'...maybe tied.
Wow best Lost episode ever so far.

I thought this ep kinda sucked.
Nothing really happened until the last 5 minutes. I was disappointed that Jacob still took the form of Shepherd's dad
Or maybe that is the smoke monster taking that form, or maybe jacob is the smoke monster, who the knows haha
The whole series.
Season 1 was a good season yes but the show has gotten only better excluding maybe season 2..at least in my opinion. (I hated season 2)
What do you mean nothing happened till the last minutes?
What about the Rousso scenes, the flashes happening more often, almost everyone getting nosebleeds, Charlotte's wierd personas and so on..
That episode was crazy entertaining.
We all knew what they showed throghout the episode.
The Smoke Monster is a security system..knew it.
What happened with Rousso we already knew about it.
Flashes happening more often, predictable.
Everyone getting nosebleeds, it was obvious that was only a matter of time.
The Charlotte thing was cool.
thank you writers.....that death couldnt have come fast enough
the episode was ok.
nice of Desmond to pop in for 20 seconds.
We saw the temple..or at least the entrance. But I agreed, we didn't learn nothing new per say.
But seen it happen and everything unfold was the fun part. Its like hearing a story is not the same as being able to actually witness it happen you know.
Overall, lots of things were going on and that was what made it a really good episode.
We didn't know how Montand lost his arm (mystery from season 1).
We didn't know Charlotte's childhood on the island.
We didn't know how Locke got off the island.
We didn't know there was a temple on the island that seems to be guarded by smokey.
We didn't know Locke was supposed to turn the wheel.
We didn't know Danielle's mention of 'the sickness' isn't the same 'sickness' Desmond had or the time-travelling losties have.
All in all, I think we learned a lot more than what we thought was already gonna happen.
Well at least it's finally apparent why Russo was so paranoid. Smokey steals forms of people somehow, or makes them not act themselves or something.
Good episode but no where near the best of the series. Its not even top 5. Good episode though. This season is delivering.
not the best, but good episode.
the best part was the conversation between locke and christian.
and i love desmond's reaction when he saw faraday's mother
She gives me the creeps too.
Jacob (Christian) told Locke "he" had to move the island, not Ben. That means turning the wheel instead of Ben. Ben took it upon himself to move it. In other words, Locke still has unfinished business.
Why couldn't Christian help Locke up or help him move the wheel?
Good episode, in my opinion. So Faraday has been on the island before, according to Charlotte. I wonder what she meant by him being a bad guy back then?
Lost usually has some pretty good casting (Heroes can learn a thing or 40) and that lady is spot on creepy.
The first time the scene looked like straight out of the Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe (the CS Lewis link too) with the lampost and the wintery setting. This time not at all.Jacob (Christian) told Locke "he" had to move the island, not Ben. That means turning the wheel instead of Ben. Ben took it upon himself to move it. In other words, Locke still has unfinished business.
I don't think he was really there. Why couldn't Christian help Locke up or help him move the wheel?

Probably because she was a child and was creeped out by him. Also - he hasnt' been there before because he hasn't done it yet. I assume its a futile attempt in the future to save her life.

Aha, the ghost of Christian!
I wonder who her mother is?Probably because she was a child and was creeped out by him. Also - he hasnt' been there before because he hasn't done it yet. I assume its a futile attempt in the future to save her life.I bet it's someone we know.
And Smokey made an appearance, am I the only one who saw an arm reach out when it was dragging that guy away?
Probably because he was being tested.
Or needed to complete his task without any help as he was supposed to from the beginning.
My sister shared a theory with me......
They are saying that Miles is the son of Dr.Marvin Candle (the doctor in the Orientation films). Remember the episode that showed him in bed w/his wife and the baby? That has to be Miles.
And remember the girl that had the rifle on Daniel? She has got to be Penny’s mother. Making Penny an islander too.
good theories. It might explain why Miles can see ghosts.
...and since we now know that Penny's dad used to be part of the "others" and seing Penny's apparent age, then her being an islander makes sense.
If Penny was an islander why doesn't she know it?
I mean her father obviously was so why would he keep that secret from her and not work together with her to try and go back there?
Miles in the other hand, has got to be that old man son.
she could have been born on the island but then Widmore may have left with her when she just a baby.
she may not have a clue about the island.
here's a thought based on what you said.....
we don't know anything about Penny's mom, right?
Widmore seems pretty obssessed with the island and it's time traveling capabilities but we really don't know his motives.........
maybe Widmore's wife was killed and he is trying to get control of the island to go back in time to get her back........
of course, that would mean he doesn't know about the rule that once someone is meant to die that there is no way to change that......
I think the best part of the show was at the end, with Ben's reaction to Desmond showing up....I don't think I've ever seen Ben surprised to see anyone or hear something unexpected, but you could see it in his face when Desmond said the piece about Farraday's mother.
Awesome.
Now that you mentioned that...
This is either a writer mistake or Daniel didn't know what he was talking about...
When Charlotte was about to die and tells him that she thought he was the scary man that told her not to come back to the island or she will die. Now if Dan knew he couldn't change the fact she died, then why would he go back to the past and do it anyways?
Seems to me that's a waste of time on his part.
This was one of the few inconsistencies I have noticed in 5 seasons of the show. It just flat doesn't make sense....why would he tell Charlotte not to come back when he knows full well she's going to.
Makes no sense, especially since he's a physicist specializing in time travel.
well, there's nothing that shows he knows the death rule.....
but I would think Widmore would know it....
Its not really an inconsistency. He obviously loves her, so haven't you guys ever seen someone in love do something that is obviously futile?
