    maybe detroit hates the lakers and celtics so much that they are willing to do this. every thought of that?? huh??

    seriously though, the OP is probably laughing his ass off right now.

    Spurs are going to need Bowen for this stretch run of the season.
    yeah..that's one thing that could be scary...but then again, the playoffs is what matters most. 30 days would be rough without him, but our guys would have to step up...we can do it...

    Aside from the near-impossibility of this deal from the Spurs side, what is Detroit getting out of it? The only explanation is maybe Dumars would do it as a favor to Sheed for the years he gave them.
    No one's really mentioned that, but I was also hoping that would come into play to some degree. Maybe that, plus Detroit avoiding the luxury tax, gaining tax proceeds and a few picks would do it. Realistic? Probably not, but it would be so awesome.

    Yeah, Rasheed is making $13.68 million this season. Spurs would have to send out 85% - $100,000 of that to get him, so we're looking at $11.52 million.

    Oberto = $3.5 M
    Finley = $2.5 M

    Rob was signed to about $3.1M last year, so the Spurs could sign him to about $3.25M or so max (105% of last year's deal).

    So far that brings the total the Spurs would have to make up to $2.27 million. That means one of these cases:

    1) trade Bowen
    2) trade Bonner
    3) trade Vaughn + one of Udoka, Mahinmi, and Hill

    I'd love to have Rasheed, but no way I'm moving Bowen or Hill, and Bonner won't be moved with the way he's shooting. Aside from the near-impossibility of this deal from the Spurs side, what is Detroit getting out of it? The only explanation is maybe Dumars would do it as a favor to Sheed for the years he gave them.
    Exactly what I have been thinking. Maybe Sheed and dumars had a meeting together and cam to an agreement that sheed does not fit in the futer movement of the Pistons, and Sheed told him he would love to come to San Antonio if possible. Otherwise yes it is a bit of a strange trade.

    Okay I just talked a friend who works for the Pistons and he said yes there is something happening. He could not give me all the people involved but did say that Duncan and Parker would be going to Detriot. He was pretty sure Kwame Brown and a few other players would be going back in the deal. Stay tuned this is going to be huge.
    Serious?

    Dr. House, are you scared now, or simply terrified?

    Iloved your lame comment about Sheed only hoisting threes these days. You forgot the fact that he makes threes, not just shoots them. And in the playoffs he would shut down Gasol to the point of tears. Sheed defends Tim Duncan as well as anybody in this league ever has. And this just in...Gasol is no Tim Duncan. Nor is Bynum, if you can ever get his "loose" knees to function correctly. Is that what the doctors called them, "loose"?

    With Sheed, you LA punks wouldn't get within 15 points of us in any game, anywhere.

    We'll wave to you from the Riverwalk in June, Dr. House.
    Terrified?

    Agreed, but Bowen is not,and doesnt seem like he will be getting alot of minutes before the playoffs anyway. So I'm not sure we would be hurting to much duiring the 30 days.

    Apparently it's a rumor, but it was mentioned by VERY reliable sources that it has been announced to be very close to being done. Would involve Fab and Finley going to Detroit, along with some others, and bringing Rasheed to SA.

    That's exactly what we're taking it for...but rumors excite people..and when it's on a radio station, and they say it's about to be done, it makes it a little more exciting.

    it actually makes sense for detroit to ditch wallace right now especially if he has already declared his intent to leave next year. rather get a few 1st rounders or high potential young players than nothing. hard to see spurs pull this off without involving the spurs mortgaging their future.

    The posters who are just making up crap in this thread to make fun of the original topic, need to just get out.

    It's not like this thread was just made up. It's something that is being reported rumor from a Detroit source on a radio station here and is a topic of discussion. You don't need to believe it, but the weird bashing of the original poster isn't necessary.

    Thanks,

    Kori

    I think I'd rather the trade be kept a secret and occur right before the deadline.

    If it does happen now we'll all be overjoyed until the Lakers trade Sun Yue and filler for Dwight Howard.

    We laugh now...but this is David Stern's NBA.....This is the same guy who said his dream Finals matchup would be the Lakers vs. the Lakers.
