Not sure why this was merged into this thread but I am 100% right. You will see next week. I have personally been in touch with an Eastern Conference GM this week. Won't happen.
Because it's the same topic. It's not really going out on a limb. What you are saying is what the majority of the people in the thread are saying...That the Spurs don't have enough to get Rasheed without giving up Ginobili.

    LA, PHX, Houston, New Orleans.

Yeah but people will overlook the post and continue to thing this is going to happen. I don't want people to be excited over a trade that has no life whatsoever.
No one is thinking this is going to happen for sure. They are just discussing it as a rumor like every other rumor. The trade that is being talked about here isn't about just Fin/Fab for Rasheed. It's talking about a third team being involved, other players being involved, etc. Most everyone in this thread has said that the Spurs would need to give up much more. Your post wasn't a revelation.

If the Pistons know Rasheed will leave and they risk getting nothing, then they may be willing to trade for expiring contracts, young talent, and some sweetners in multiple draft picks and players' rights.

Also, if the notion of signing Horry to trade him is a facet, then the Spurs have to include a team to which Rob wants to go, and that is not Detroit.

I think the understanding would be that Horry would never play for whatever team he goes to (in any trade). He'd be just doing it to get some free money and get cut.

I don't think anyone is going to sign Rob. Buford will tell him "You want to make 3 million to pass a physical and practice for a while?" He wont turn that down.

Okay I just talked a friend who works for the Pistons and he said yes there is something happening. He could not give me all the people involved but did say that Duncan and Parker would be going to Detriot. He was pretty sure Kwame Brown and a few other players would be going back in the deal. Stay tuned this is going to be huge.

I don't know why you've turned into a all of a sudden but whatever.

Here is the thing The Pistons know Sheed will not be back next year and are more then willing to just have 13 Mill in cap space. Joe would be willing to move him if he could end up with an all star player in return. Now maybe there is a third team involved? Why would the third team want to take back SA scraps for an all star?

A trade with the Spurs does not cost them their cap space. They also would save millions of dollars and get a young project.

Did they give a name for this source? Or what station he's with?

Our local official Pistons radio carrier was part of the recent clear channel firings, and is now a National show. However one person still employed is Matt 'Diesel' Deary, who does the majority of the Pistons segments. Also does some TV. If he was the source, I'd be likely to believe it ... or some part of it.

If it was Terry Foster, who used to cover the Bad Boys for the paper, and now is on air along with his general sports writings, I's tend to disregard it all now. He's a name dropper, reminiscing about the good ol' days when he covered the Pistons. He's always spewing rumors on the local radio about impeccable sources with the team... ... ...

So I'd be really curious to catch a name if they mention it.

I was listening to the local station all day and night, and this thread is the first I've heard of anything.

And unless Pop for Mike Curry is also part of this trade, there has to be a 3rd team to give this any credibility.

Any trade that gives us Oberto and Fin just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Ian and Tiago are intriguing .... but we already have enough prospects. Amir is still developing. Sharpe is a 3 year project or more. Stuckey and Afflflo, while already established in the rotation, are still projects themselves. Overseas we have Trent Plaisted and Deron Washington.

And acquiring draft picks doesn't make alot of sense as we have 4 in this years draft.

I don't buy it. But I also didn't think Joe would ever trade Billups for Iverson....

Gonna be an interesting week as the deadline approaches.

As long as we trade them contracts that are also going to expire, they can get cash, picks, and players' rights in the deal.

For some reason I forgot Tim Duncan was on the Spurs

This would be a great trade for the Spurs in every way. They get a post player that can defend Gasol straight up and a big that can stretch the floor, which is probably one of LAL's biggest weaknesses defensively. It would turn the tables on a matchup that favors the Lakers considerably as it stands.

Could be but like Joe has said he is not going to just tank the season.
