I know some people here aren't happy about the Finals MVP being named after Russell, but i'll ask you this who has ever taken a college team (that too Univ of San Francisco) to 55 straight victories and 2 national championships?

The guy is just not appreciated enough. Jordan may be the ultimate scorer, but Bill Russell will always be the ultimate winner.

BTW Stern should've named the Larry O' Brien trophy after Bill Russell..

wilt yes. Jordan, i would have to disagree. I believe Jodan was a better overall player. But if it were just to put the ball in the hole, i think Kobe is one up on that category.

I guess you didn't watch the Jordan (i think it was Michael) i did.

BTW Jordan always fared better in the playoffs. Kobe on the other hand, not so much.

I guess we didnt. I just think Kobe is a better "scorer".

Playoffs has nothing to do with my point about being a better scorer.

    To each his own.

And you clearly have no working knowledge of the NBA earlier than 2000.

You're just wrong. Don't try to justify your response or provide anything to back up your opinion. You're freaking wrong. Incredibly wrong. Drastically wrong.

I would also say Kobe is a better scorer than MJ. His offensive skillset is unmatched. The guy has range that Jordan never had, has an incredible post game, great footwork, and when he gets into his zone.....81 pts.

But that doesn't mean Kobe is a better player than MJ was. When you factor in defense, rebounding, passing, clutchness, etc. MJ one ups Kobe by a good margin.

Basketball was a less compe ive game in Russell's day. The league was much smaller in his day too.

Jordan faced a tougher game, tougher league, tougher compe ion.

You're a dumb freaking ass. Russell was the bench mark for the game of basketball in the 60's. He also stood up for the black players in those days.

Bill Russell is the sole reason why the Boston Celtics have 11 championships.

BTW why did Russell cut all ties to the Celtics in 1969? Any one know what the reason was???

Bill Russell is great, but the Celtics bought the best players from all the other teams. The reason Russell is a great team player is because he had the greatest teammates.

Anybody that thinks Kobe's a better scorer than Jordan should at least look at their stats before saying something so stupid. Kobe's been with the Lakers the same number of years Jordan was with the Bulls. Kobe's averaged over 30 points per game twice, Jordan did it eight times.

I agree, but to be fair, early in his career Kobe didn't have the freedom to shoot that Michael did. Take Shaq off those Laker teams and I guarantee Kobe has several more seasons with a 30+ average.

Isn't that like saying play Michael with Kwame Brown and Smush Paker against the Raptors and see if MJ puts up 81.
