nike. that's all you need to know.
Of the four major sports, assuming you consider hockey a major sport, which one do you feel is the most manipulated by the league for marketing reasons?

co-mvp's
how cute.
stern getting what he wants, and when he wants it = lame
its even worse than match fixing....
Stern's wet dream come true, how convenient...
Ive seen bad officiating in all sports, but never to the degree of the bull 2006 Finals in any other sport.
Boxing isn't even in the top 10 sports, probably in part because of the years of scandal and corruption involving the game.
Boxing is bigger than hockey.

I chose not to include NASCAR and WWE. Extreme fighting is probably more popular than boxing now.
Reading is FUNdamental.
Extreme fighting...
But you're right...MMA is more popular than boxing...
you forgot soccer my freind..
its the most popular sport in the world
basketball > soccer > every other sport
Except in the U.S., where it ranks right behind curling.
Yeah but we all know soccer and WWE are fixed.
Baseball.
I think the basic tacit consent of the steroids era by MLB and its owners in the 1990s and early 2000s to re-establish their fan bases essentially amounted to complete manipulation of the sport. I think it continues to be so despite the steroids witch hunt they have been doing the last few years. The NBA is dirty, but I think baseball is worse. Despite last year's Finals and the 2006 debacle, there have been 4 championship teams in the 2000s that come from "unpopular" franchises, Spurs and Pistons.
Because nobody wants to watch that boring . I'd rather watch the Manning brothers and Williams sisters have that oreo eat-off than watch soccer.
Oh I agree, that's why I said it ranked behind curling. With good reason.
Baseball is definitely corrupt. As far as marketing, it's the NBA. The NBA promotes stars rather than teams which is why we see alot of bad teams with stars on ESPN. That is why we see alot of bad teams on national TV.
