Could he have been over-compensating for his left ankle during his return? This sometimes happens when athletes over-stress their good side.
Very true. This is also why some people believe that Greg Oden, whose legs are different lengths, will always have injury issues. His knees and hips are in a constant state of compensating for the one leg being slightly longer than the other.

The timing of this makes me think "possible trade".

I'd feel much better if Finley, Oberto, Vaughn, Ime, and even Mason all sat out with injuries that just happened to occur right before the trade deadline.

Maybe a big man is on the way? But really who knows? The ankle issue could be legit.

So he should've played Manu and made the ankle worse?

    Great idea

This news really puts a kink in negotiating plans as well, cause if they WERE in talks FOR Vince Carter or John Salmons, then the other team's barganing position just became alot stronger.

Bad news all the way around.

no genius. we possibly could have won with only 1 of the big 3 playing.

This Manu injury is the reason why you don't throw away games to conference rivals

How do you know they would've?

How do you know that Parker or Duncan would've been so bad, that they would've taken away shots from guys that made em?

Its impossible to say that if 1 of the big 3 had played they would've won.

    Piss poor arguement.

It is so funny CIA Pop had kept this quiet all along. While the trade negotiations were going on.

This clearly means Pop waited till the last minute possible to let ppl know Manu's hurt. Trades are NOT gonna happen. Pop probably gave up.

how do you know they wouldn't have???

common sense says chances with even 1 of them playing go up by a lot.

With every nagging injury it looks more and more like 2010 will be Manu's final season as a Spur and probably in the NBA. His body simply cannot handle his style of play any longer. That being said, hopefully it is nothing serious and he is back in a couple of games.

Hopefully theyre just not playing him cause they want to give him extra rest.

Knicks,Pistons,Wizards are not very good teams right now and it looks like we can win 2 of 3 without Manu.

They possibly could have still lost, too. If Manu or Tim or Tony plays that night and the Spurs still lose, they're in exactly the same situation that they now find themselves -- 4 up on most of the conference with an injured Manu Even if Manu had played that night, the Spurs are 2 up on Denver and 4 up on the rest of the conference. Beyond the tiebreaker, it doesn't strike me as a big deal.

At this point, the Spurs are 4 games clear of everyone else in their division and 4 games clear of everyone in the conference other than LA and Denver. And if you're so sure that the Spurs could have won with only 1 of the big 3, you've got to feel pretty confident that the Spurs could win at least 1 playoff game in Denver, right? Unless you think the Spurs are going to completely fall off the cliff, the difference is marginal and can be overcome.

Salmons is averaging about 18/4/4 this season, is 29 years old, and is signed for the next two years at about 5 million a year. His contract is an absolute steal for what anyone would be getting in return. If Sacramento is in salary-slashing mode, it's really a no lose situation for the Spurs. He's an upgrade at a very reasonable price, and wouldn't kill the Spurs' salary cap like Carter.

don't wanna argue about this since it's pointlesss but...

chances of spurs winning with 1 of big 3 >> chances of spurs winning w/out big 3

maybe it's better to "try" to win games instead of throwing them away, because you never know what's going to happen in the future. Especially if it's vs. conference rival.

Wow. Could Pop have told Manu as soon as they're about to get on the plane, "Manu...go ahead and stay. We might trade you." Manu getting the Brent Barry treatment?

    Again, kidding.

Good job b, for a sec I thought you were going to overreacte.

Not trying to be rude, I just think you're seeing that isn't there. I think this is a classic case of one ankle overcompensating for the other, like with Ian, but to a lesser degree. Or it could be a smokescreen, who knows? CIA Pop, baby.

Well, the really scary thing is that he needs the rest even after sitting out almost a week. Not a good sign.

Like others, I'm perplexed because he was starting to look better physically.

Let's just hope for the best.
