Who names this stuff?

I was thinking about this just now:


I work as a cashier and in my job POS stands for point of sale and terminal refers to which register I am on.

But the terms "POS" and "terminal" are also used to define things that are pieces of "junk" and things that are about to die- terms I hope are not appicable to my work equipment.

Since, I don't want to work on a pos terminal, what can I rename it?

Disclaimer: Clearly I have too much time on my hands today.
I think this is due to the fact that I have no B2b rant to read.
