The only reason NJ is contemplating trading Vince is financial in the 1st place. The strength of NJ's position is entirely dependent on what they think their books will look like over the next couple of years...
I saw a report that Pop stayed and played tourist in NYC for a few days before the game --so doubt that there was a practice unless in NY. If some of the team members were playing tourists in NY--then maybe they didn't have any major concerns about Manu at that time.

It would be a kick ass move.
Kidding me?
Like I said, if that were the case, and that happened, they would lose credibility regarding injuries for a while, but who the cares, you pulled one over on the Nets.
If Manu is really going to miss any amount of time do you really think giving up hill and Mason for 1 player is even worth it. Personally I wouldn't trade for anyone now if Manu can't be healthy come playoff time....
Now it looks as though we would be in a desperate need of a 3rd scoring threat...I really dont think Manu is gone for the season.but if he is we shouldnt go over board and blow up our team for One guy...
Or Team A makes a deal with the Spurs that includes Ginobili, then Team A lets Ginobili walk "because he's injured" and comes back to SA. Like Barry last year
hhaaha that was ty.
If the ing Spurs could pull off a trade for VC without having to deal BOTH Mason and Hill, AND Manu is not really injured....the Spurs are ing geniuses. A lineup of TP, VC, Manu, Mase and TD if playing small ball would kick some serious ass.
After the Gasol trade, anything goes.
You're overlooking the fact NJ and others are desperately trying to shed payroll.
Yeah, whenever Manu has been injured, we have heard quotes from him literally within hours. Since it's been multiple days, something has to be up . . .
I think I'm gonna throw up
Yeah head scratching.
I understand, but they are still dealing from a position of strength.
I didn't think you could, but wasn't sure if it was an actual rule or not. I mean, if there's a team out there willing to take an injured player, shouldn't it be their decision and not the NBA's ?
Spurstalk, Kori, and Timvp getting shout-outs on Chris Duel's show right now again.
Agreed. It just makes no sense that this is some kind of charade to keep teams from asking about Manu. If the Spurs don't want to include Manu in a deal it's as simple as saying "no Manu". I mean if someone calls up asking about Tim Duncan are the Spurs going to say "no way" or are they going to hold him out of a game and then say "you don't want him, he's hurt"?
If Manu is out for the season then it would make another team think twice about demanding him back in a trade. He's a name and his deal is up after next season so he's definitely an attractive trade target for a team that is looking to offload a name player with a long term financial commitment attached.
There are only so many teams in the NBA in the current economic environment that would be willing to take back a big contract and who can offer cap relief at the end of this season. The Spurs, with Horry and assorted odds and ends, can help a team significantly pare payroll past this season. Still, you gotta have a name to sell tickets, even if you can cut payroll.
There are a number of teams that are looking to deal some great talent now. The Spurs may be willing to deal with them. Making Ginobili less attractive is not a bad tactic at this point.
Subs ute Uve and Matt Othick with Blake Ahearn and you know how i feel now.
One thing I do know is that players on the imminent trading block are often "sat down" to protect the asset that is the player. Anyone notice that Marcus Camby didn't play last night against the Suns due to an "ear infection?"
Hmmm...
The Spurs like to introduce inexplicable confusion into their dealings. CIA Pop or whatever. Like the weird email to the entire league on draft day. I'm not sure they think about it too much, they just go all Joker and introduce chaos.
Pop: We need to obfuscate matters...
R.C.: Alright, let's send an email to the every GM asking for their best offer...
Pop: Oh yeah, that's funny. Okay, why not? Demps,...
Exactly my thoughts. Thats a crappy thing to do. I guess it's smart but that's like tempting bad to happen.
However bare in mind we are not talking about Finley here. Loosing that one guy can make our break our season.
This afternoon, J.A. Adande quoted a Western Conference GM as saying that the Nets are hemmorraging money and will basically give Carter away.

I'm pretty sure it is. I believe the only requirement is that teams give the physical, but teams don't have to void a trade just because the physical turned up something.
