Pop: "Healing process has already begun" for Ginobili

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- A little more information on Ginobili coming out of Gregg Popovich's pre-game news conference.
The important thing to note here is that Ginobili has a stress reaction in his right fibula, not a stress fracture. A fracture cuts through the bone. A reaction is a topical inflammation.
"New bone has already been laying down, they've seen it on the X-rays," Popovich said."So the healing process has already begun."
Doctors have pegged Ginobili's return date at two or three weeks out, a timetable Popovich did not believe was out of the question. He notes that Ginobili has already been off the ankle since Feb. 11, when he played his last game against Toronto.
"He's already been out basically a week," Popovich said.
Popovich added he was surprised -- "very much so" -- at the way Ginobili had been playing on his sore leg. In the past seven games he played, Ginobili averaged 22.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He had 32 points against the Raptors before being shelved.
"It's not a stress fracture, so it makes it very different," Popovich said. "If it was a stress fracture, he probably wouldn't be playing like he'd been playing."

This injury was almost predictable. I just hope when those ankles finally heal, they never bother him again. Also, i hope Manu stays away from any postseason compe ion, he has done just enough for his country
U know what. It sounds almost like Pop had a 6th sense when he sat the big 3 vs. Denver.
I think Manu's bone was on the verge of breaking. Thank God for Pop + the Allstar Break
So wait is it another 2-4 weeks ON TOP of the week(s) he's had?
Hopefully not a chronic condition for the rest of his career..
no kidding that is why some suggested trading him
MANU WAS NEVER SERIOUSLY HURT PEOPLE!!!!!
hahaha...Manu will be back in a week at the most.....Pop tried to sell this story.
That would be one of the funniest things I've ever seen in sports.
I'm surprised Phil Jackson hasn't called us out yet.
Yea i was telling a friend that i am expecting for Manu to not be out NO longer than a week and a half. I honestly believe that Pop manufactured this story for some reason.
The story didnt make sense from the beginning and now its starting to a little.
I dont know why Pop would exxagerate or make up this story but its becoming more apparent that Manu is not hurt or is not seriously hurt like said or rumored.

Interesting theory that it might have been to drive teams from demanding him in trade negotiations. But somehow I think Manu just needed the extended rest, to keep him healthy for the playoffs. Pop had to learn that lesson last year, we need Manu powering his way into the lane with enough legs to finish, to have any chance.
great news.
Pop and R.C. better start stockpiling swingmen over the offseason
I expect Ginobili to be out at least 3 more weeks.
i woulndt mind manu sitting out an extra week or 2 if their record doesnt suffer to much.
Everything is ok. Malik Hairston has Carmelo-ized Detroit.
Like last time, I think Manu comes back within 2 weeks or so....
is this injury the recurring type? I hope not.
