A source has told David Aldridge that there have been Thursday discussions between the Sixers and Blazers centered on Andre Miller.
The deal would involve the expiring contract of Blazers center Raef LaFrentz and another Portland guard in exchange for Miller and forward Reggie Evans.
Philadelphia wants Jerryd Bayless, and the Blazers have made the rookie guard next to untouchable. Portland would be more open to completing a deal, the source said, to include a guard like Steve Blake or Sergio Rodriguez.
The trade might be resurrected if the Grizzlies were involved and sent guard Kyle Lowry to Philadelphia.please don't happen.
I agree. Portland really sucks at the point. Miller isn't great, but he would be a big upgrade.
If portland holds it together, they'll be the next place to be after the lakers in the west
Billups vs Dre 4 times a year for the Division ? pretty cool matchup but the Blazers will be much better with him at the helm
No way. We're not giving up Bayless.
Bayless has alot of physical tools, but I just don't see him as a true PG. He doesn't have that IQ most elite PGs need to have. Hopefully he can develop as one because it will make Portland that much better.
X2
I want miller as long as its not for bayless.. I love his game. Not sure if this trade ended up hapening though
I'd love this trade, Millers a nice veteran and Reggie Miller is a tough defender and nice rebounder. Bayless while having shown some flashes of decent ball he hasn't been really that great. Not too convinced about the harris connection
The Sixers don't expect to re-sign Miller, too bad they couldnt move him.
So much for Rael Lafrentz expiring contract being a deadly assets for a trade.![]()
blazers being too cautious with their talent. too many young guys not enough money to pay them all. should have traded them
they will keep aldridge, roy, (both max contracts) and oden (10 mil per even if he ends up averaging only 10 points and 8 boards). thats like 40 mil on 3 players, gluck locking up bayless, webster, outlaw, and rudy
blazers = new bulls
Aldridge is not worth a max contract. He doesn't dominate the paint enough. But, if Oden doesn't pan out, Portland may have no choice but to pay him the max.
Andre Miller sucks. Not enough quickness and a shaky jumper. No thanks.
Oh, and we can pay all of our players. We've got the richest owner in the league.
The Blazers did the right thing standing pat, I believe. No deal would make them a serious contender and better things will be available in the Summer, so having those $7 million in cap space can prove valuable.
