Oohhhh, right. You mean it's because Niko is the first GTA character to actually show remorse for what he's done. Because nothing says, "a step forward in game play" than a guy like Marcus Fenix who's only ambition in life is to kill as many living things as possible without remorse, pity, or empathy.
Really, this point is hilarious. The name of the game is Grand Theft Auto; the point of the game is to carjack people at gunpoint. It's not to go build a school or do volunteer work with sick kids. So yes, a Marcus Feenix character would be far superior in this game.
Niko had no depth of character. A truly deep character in a video game is Andrew Ryan from Bioshock; or even Fontaine / Atlas. All Niko does is complain about his life and act like he has no choice but to go around killing everything in sight. Niko's an incredibly lame and weak character, and hearing the same bull cries from him every single mission is tiring.I find it sad, and I actually feel a little sorry for you that you would subscribe to the notion that a game which attempts to demonstrate an actual depth of character from within it's protagonist is weakened by that action. I suppose you would have been happier if Niko is a wall of steel that never flinches when knocking someone off and never thinks twice about killing a human being. I could not disagree with you more on this topic, and I'm happy to see that game companies like Rockstar, Konami and others are crafting believable characters who actually have emotions and might occasionally have to think twice about what they're doing. It might piss off the 360 fanboys who basically like the idea of, "I play games to kill things. Lots of things. WOOO BEER!", but it's happening anyway. The same old tripe where you're a 100% ruthless killing machine is REAAAAAALLY original, right?
Still, I will give GTA props for being technically amazing. The lighting effects and the framerate are outstanding on it. But having been a huge GTA fan for a long time, none of that stuff was all that important to me when the game was actually fun to play the previous three iterations. San Andreas was my favorite, and looked awful graphically compared to what was the standard in 2004.

The only reason the Xbox 360 was even possible was because of the Halo franchise. , Halo was the only reason the Xbox didn't fade away into the shadow of PS2. Actually I don't really think Halo sucks, but it doesn't crack my top 10. Never got into online Halo and I just played the single-player campaign for playing sakes.
The first HALO was epic... the 2nd... not so much... the 3rd was probably in between.
Still very fun games... just probably not in my top 5.
I play a little Halo 3, but simply put, it's not a next-gen game either graphically or control wise. It's somewhat fun, but Halo's showing it's age enough that it's a problem.
And Halo 2 was a thoroughly horrible game. Twenty years from now the only Halo that will hold historical weight is Halo CE.

Halo 3- this is the ! this game never gets old with all the new updates they have once in a while and it has great online gameplay.
Dead Space- a fun game and it has a nice story to it
Midnight Club LA-if you like racing games get this you can customize your car with sick designs and they have good online battle races.
Soul Calibur 4-if you played the past soul calibur games you will love this

God I hate Halo fanboys. Its a good game, but its nowhere newar the best FPS of all time. It has a strong case for best console FPS, but I'm sure the PC gamers cringe everytime someone mentions Halo as a great FPS. It did make the XBox and I like playing the game, but there are other games that are better.

Do you have a problem with the fact that I don't agree with you? Unless you have played Counterstrike, Call of Duty 4, and Team Fortress 2 (ON PC, not the console which is a sad way to play an FPS), you are speaking from a position of ignorance. I've played enough Halo to know that it's a very good game, but not as good as the others, especially the later iterations. The first Halo was the only truly fantastic game, the others are just solid console FPS games. And even the first Halo is still limited by the fact that's a console base for a gun game. There is simply no way to be accurate with a joystick compared to a mouse and keyboard.
This is exactly how you lose credibility. You have no ability to independently judge the game against others. Halo 3 is an extremely limited game from a technical standpoint. Graphical improvements from Halo 2 to Halo 3 were nothing other-worldly, as the game maintained it's look and feel without anything "wow" worthy. It's also not in 1080p, which is atrocious for a game that lauds itself as the flagship game for a system.
And all of these visual drawbacks would be forgivable if the game was a step above everything else around. It's not. Halo 3 is not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not a remarkable experience any longer, and certainly not compared to the massive following the original Halo earned. You can decry everyone else for not agreeing with you (and make yourself look like a fool in the process), but the bottom line is that there will not be a Halo 4. Bungie could not innovate enough to keep the series fresh, so they canned it as reviewers and players alike began to say, "Halo 3 is great, but it's nothing special." If the game was still earning Game of the Year awards from every magazine, you wouldn't see them canceling the series.
Halo has run it's course. You're free to disagree with me, but anytime you insult someone for not sharing your opinion speaks volumes about how objectively you are making your statements.
