I was looking at the spurs past draft picks of the last few years and looking at the players that where there when it was our time to pick, and this draft seemed to have the most talent after we drafted

we could of kept leandro barbosa
    or got josh howard
    or mo williams

except i forgot what we got in return for barbosa

which of these 3 players. who of would of made the most difference to our team and who should they have picked orginally?

It's hard to argue with the results. The Spurs got a future first-rounder for Barbosa, the one they sent to the Knicks in the Nazr Mohammed trade. Nazr was key for the Spurs in the 05 playoffs.

I'll take the le in 2005 any day, you can keep Mo Williams.

Barbosa is horrible in a half court offense - that would have been a nightmare. Josh Howard, i thought they should have taken, since he dominated college.

Should have taken Josh Howard, who could be traded for other prospects and future picks.

Josh Howard failed the vetting process when RC Buford discovered that Howard got a 500 on the SAT.

If he would be traded, I don't think Buford should have given a hoot.

Tim Duncan actually pushed hard that year for the Spurs to get Josh Howard.

    That can't be true.

    Is that true??

    I remember reading that, too.

Just to add to ATX's response....In return for Barbosa's rights, the Spurs received a conditional 1st round pick that ended up being the 2005 #30 pick. That pick ended up being traded with Malik Rose to the NY Knicks along with a 2006 1st round pick for Nazr Mohammed. The 30th pick in 2005 ended up beig David Lee. The pick in 2006 ended up being Mardy Collins.

The Spurs won a championship, beating Denver, Seattle, Phoenix and Detroit with Nazr Mohammed's help...although, Spurs fans will never know if they could have done so with Malik and Rasho, instead.

And think of all the others teams that could have picked Ginobili and/or Parker instead of us. You win some you lose some. I'm pretty sure we're right there in the top in the ranking of teams that most benefited from the NBA draft in the last 10/15 years.

I think the bigger one was when we went back and forth on who to take in the 2nd round Carroway or Micheal Redd and we decided on Carro. If we had only taken Redd

No way Josh Howard should have gone that low. I remember being furious when the Jazz took Sasha freaking Pavlovic over Howard. He might now be the dumbest malcontent in the league, but at the time, it was ridiculous for the player of the year in the ing ACC to drop to 28 or wherever he went.
Not to mention hes a pot head
    Very few NBA players aren't.

spurs drafted barbosa with a prior agreement with the SUNS. SPURS never had barbosa in their list.

Read under "early life and high school"...wow he did score that low.

He eventually ended up at Wake but what kind of classes could he of passed? You can only take so many phys ed courses and they're usually only worth one credit
