best score and song??
BULL , I SAY!
I can see some of the other that this now overrated film received, but song and score should have gone to Wall-E.
This award is now tainted.
Oscar now has the clap.
Have you seen SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE? I thought it was great entertainment. I didn't think it was the best film of the year, but it's an easy film to admire.

wait a sec.... did they show heath ledger in there?? did I miss something??
They missed Heath Ledger in that tribute
I think he was in last year's tribute
I'm just going to look up the results in a while; I tried to watch, but there were like what? 3 boring ass musical medleys in the first hour or so?![]()
boo. Rourke.
Rourke was robbed!
Rourke got robbed! What he lose?
His dignity.
No, never mind, that was gone a long time ago.
Another great film about the street kids in India is 'Salaam Bombay' by Mira Nair.
It's the first Indian film that I really loved.
I had Rourke pegged to use it, except that when it became clear Hollywood was going to screw Van Zant out of his Oscar ONCE AGAIN, I was pretty sure Penn would get the Oscar over Rourke.
Rourke and Penn both gave amazing performances.
The highlight was San Antonio refugee Dustin Lance Black winning best screenplay:
"If Harvey had not been taken from us 30 years ago, I think he would want me to say to all the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told they are less than by the churches, by the government, by their families, that you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value, and that no matter what anyone tells you, God does love you and that very soon, I promise you, you will have equal rights, federally, across this great nation of ours," Black said."
The first Indian film that I really loved was Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love.

Same director.
Slumdog Millionaire winning it all just reinforces how bad a year 2008 was for movies. Mickey Rourke losing was another kick in the nuts.
again, at least 10 movies that came out in 2007 are better than anything that came out in 2008.
Giving Van Sant an Oscar for Milk would have been like when they gave it to Scorsese for The Departed....it wasn't anywhere close to said director's best film.
The one difference being that The Departed was still a badass movie, and Milk sucked (no pun inten......yes, pun intended.)
I still haven't seen The Wrestler, so I can't know for sure whether or not Rourke was robbed, but I have no problems with Sean Penn's win. I'm usually of the opinion that he is a HUGELY overrated actor, but his performance in Milk was excellent.
SEAN PENN BABY!!!
That's #3!!!! Although, I think he should have four. He was robbed for Dead Man Walking- Nick Cage won that year I believe for Leaving Las Vegas.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000576/awards
That's just his second, and I think two Oscars are already too many for him.
Penn was born in 1960 but he looks even older than Warren Beatty who was born in 1937.
Obviously Brab Pitt got robbed, despite his terrible british accent Brad Pitt is still a good actor with great skills and strong muscles. But Pitt hasn't yet got an Oscar he deserves, he was nominated twice though.
Hmmm, I could have sworn he won for I Am Sam. He was robbed for that too! Who won that year? What does Penn's personal image have to do with his acting???
***Duh! I just remembered- Denzel Washington won that year for Training Day. While I think that he did a great job on that movie, I think Penn did an amazing job in I Am Sam.
it seems movies who gross alot dont usually end up winning on the night, fkn lame
Those who hate Sean Penn for his activism are ridiculous for thinking he still shouldn't win an Oscar for his work. I think Mickey Rourke should have won, but I still like Penn's win, and the fact that his speech was extraordinarily self-aware.
I wasn't sure who was going to take but I have no doubts that Sean Penn was worthy of winning.
anic? Return of the King?
