would you continue to say that if Dirk was traded to spurs? you would still make jokes on spurs that Dirk played on, or turn your canon around to our mavs? Dirk is the my favourite player in NBA, even though he sucked last night. but I would always put the interest of my team above any individual one including Dirk, because Mavs are the team I like most. I have been a mavs fan since before Dirk joined NBA, and I'm still is a mavs fan even though our team hasn't won a championship.
we should have won the championship in 06 but for the "bull whistles and fulke shots", and we still have some chance to win it before dirk retires for gets traded, even though the chance is very slim. Trading Dirk is just the sign of the rebuilding of our team, that's why Cuban let go Nash and Finley but still keeps Dirk. Dirk is among the best 5 PFs of all time, along with Barkely, Malone, Duncan and Bird (I would like to consider Bird as a PF, because he is the only big man that can be compared to Dirk in shooting and dribbling.) Personally I think Dirk is even more capable and more allround than Bird, now Dirk just needs a championship to prove it for me.
But basketball games take 10 players, 5 for each team. our team have got 4 good players to fill in the 4 positions except center spot. Dampier used to be the second best center in the west just next to O'Neal, as he claimed himself, but even today's O'Neal is more capable than him though O'Neal is years older than him. For sure Dampier is not as good as O'Neal, he just earns half the amount of salary O'Nea's earns...
I expected Donnie to trade some trashes for a decent center before the deadline, but he sucked again. Kaman could have joined us and become a decent assistant for Dirk as they did on Germany's national team, but Clippers and Donnie just didn't want to make our team a bit better.
