Johnson said he wants to be a part of a playoff team that has a chance to get to the Super Bowl. When asked if the Bengals were that team, Johnson said he was not sure.

"When we played Ray Lewis and Baltimore at the end of the season, he came over and pointed to my helmet. He said: 'I want to wear this star on my helmet. That's my dream ... that's my dream,'" Ware told the team's official Web site. "When we got to the Pro Bowl, he did it again. He came at me every day. He's trying to get down where the star is. The team already has a capable backup in RB Fred Jackson, so it may be difficult to sign Taylor if he thinks he's going to be the third wheel in the Bills' backfield. If the Bills were to convince Taylor to sign, it could trigger an attempt to trade Lynch.

    Brooks, Dunn done in Tampa Bay


    TAMPA, Fla. -- Derrick Brooks, one of the top players in Tampa Bay history, was cut by the Buccaneers on Wednesday in a purge of the team's older players.

    Brooks, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year when Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl after the 2002 season, was among five players cut, four of them older than 32-year-old Raheem Morris, the team's new head coach.

    The others were wide receivers Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard, running back Warrick Dunn and linebacker Cato June. The 29-year-old June is the only player under 30 and the only one younger than Morris.

Another reason is the team told him not to show up for the their offseason program unless he was at a prescribed weight. Rogers was upset at the directive because he was able to maintain his required weight during the entire season in 2008.
