    Spurs’ monthly planner: March
    Express-News

The Express-News takes a look at the games, foes and faces to watch during the Spurs’ month to come:

    Save the date

March 12 vs. Lakers: Well, maybe losing Andrew Bynum wasn’t that big a deal. Since losing their starting center, the Lakers have gone 11-2. They didn’t seem to miss him last season against the Spurs, either, when they won the Western Conference finals.

    Set the TiVo

March 14 at Rockets: Houston had won six straight entering Saturday and did what the Spurs couldn’t last week — beat LeBron James’ Cavaliers. A big reason for the surge? Luis Scola, who recently had five-straight double-doubles.

    Catch a movie instead

March 27 vs. Clippers: Noted chemistry-killer Baron Davis (see NBA Beat, Page 8C) has been a bust as a free-agent pickup for Los Angeles. When he hasn’t been hurt, he was shooting 36.2 percent from the field entering Saturday.

    Planting the seed

This will be a big month for the Spurs in terms of keeping a high seed in the Western Conference. They’re a No. 2 seed now, but several teams are within striking distance.

    Spur of the month

Tony Parker: Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan both figure to miss their share of time during March, which means Parker will have to assume more of the scoring burden. He showed against Dallas (37 points) and Portland (39) that he’s capable.

    The crystal ball

It’s never easy with two of your Big Three hurting, but the Spurs will have eight games against sub-.500 teams, which will help. They should be able to go 11-6 and position themselves well to earn home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

We only got 2 games of 2nd of back to backs. Hefty schedule but well organised by the league. Plus they are throwing us for back to backs, I love this idea. I just don't like the way the league throws us to Atlanta from San Antonio.
