Nets waive veteran Stromile Swift
Thunder release F-C Joe Smith
The Oklahoma City Thunder released forward-center Joe Smith, the team announced Sunday.
With his release coming on March 1, Smith would not be eligible to appear in the playoffs if he were acquired by another club.
The Boston Celtics were rumored to be interested in the veteran big man, but instead signed forward Mikki Moore and guard Stephon Marbury to bolster their bench.
Smith was sent to the Thunder on August 13, 2008 - along with guard Desmond Mason - in a three-team trade that sent guards Luke Ridnour and Adrian Griffin to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The 6-10 Smith appeared in 36 games for Oklahoma City this season, averaging 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in 19.2 minutes.

Nets waive veteran Stromile Swift
swift still plays? i thought he retired already.
What? It's not like the Spurs are despera....eh, why not?
If this is so why do we need to get him?
didn't catch that part. same goes for gooden.
That's inaccurate. Players waived after March 1 are ineligible.
I hope the Spurs release Ime Udoka before 11pm.
We look like tonight. We need reinforcements.
Would that be diarrhea or a giant turd? I know we stunk up the Rose Palace/Garden/whatever!!!
Any chance we could get Swift? He could be handy.
But I think Joe Smith would be nice.
Boston/LA or Cleveland or one of the 'cool' teams will get their pick, big names NEVER, EVER, EVER pick the spurs.
ESPN Seems to think that Cleveland will get Smith.

Cleveland seems to think so too.
Cavaliers insider: Joe Smith looks to be on his way back to Cleveland
lol nobody wants to play for the Spurs anymore again. Gonna have to work hard in the off-season it seems.
joe smith>gooden>swift. but i'll take any one of them.
Joes Smith gets about his game in tough workman-like fashion. I've always thought he'd be a goood fit on this Spurs team and would compliment Tim's game well. It's a damn shame the Spurs are not under consideration from what's been reported.

*yawn*
I don't see exactly how Smith would give us something valuable we don't already have.
The Spurs already have a Joe Smith ?If it's Kurt Thomas you thinking of then you don't know Joe Smith .
You need to go back to sleep .
Yeah sure Smith's awesomeness is so crystal clear...
Btw Mr Aussie you're the one talking asleep or haven't you heard about time zones.
Im confused by your response. Ok, im an Aussie, i can't help that. It's 6pm here so im wide awake and you did offer the yawn.
Look what im saying about Smith is he offers good length and i dont mean just height. He will take on the best opposition bigs including centers easing the pressure on Tim . He can defend the post in a hard-nosed way and has very reliable jump-shot from short range. Another plus, he doesn't require touches. The guy will go about his business. He's younger than Kurt, yet has the veteran experience the Spurs are going to need in the play-offs.
LOL thats a good comeback especially since its so true.
Slippy = *yawn* and it's about to be midday in France. But ok I should forget playing on words![]()
