Drew Gooden numbers in 2007 NBA Finals:
12.8 Points, 8.3 Rebounds, 50% FG and 87.5% FT
I really hope so, but I fear the sample size is too small to make a good judgment either way. Gooden has been fairly inconsistent in FT shooting throughout his career. Here are his percentages (chronologically) in years where he's shot 99 free throws or more:
69.7, 63.7, 81.0, 68.2, 71.4, 72.8, 86.9.
Obviously he's capable of shooting very well, but the question is what kind of streak he'll go on during the playoffs and in clutch time.
As far as "our best free throw shooter," I'll take Manu Ginobili any day of the week, who has these percentages the last three years:
86.0, 86.0, 88.0
Edit: I'll take Roger Mason Jr. too, who has a career FT% of 87.8, and not a single season below 86%.

It is good to go to the line more often anyway. Drew Gooden is better than nothing. At least, at least the Spurs got something for almost nothing.
Same numbers, Scola looks in control, Gooden gots crazy easily; I think POP can handle him properly.
I think we do a great move signing him, the playoffs are coming and his numbers looks great.
LOL. yea...a soul patch on the BACK of your head doesnt qualify as hair
Can you guys imagine putting Scola with Manu? Man they have great chemistry together.
Scola is much better than Gooden, who is known around the league as not the sharpest of tools in the shed.

Gooden has the Mongol beard thing going on so I expect big things from him in the playoffs.
Once you factor in Manu's chemistry + familiarity with Scola, it's not close when comparing him to Gooden.
Gooden's beard style should be adopted for SAS!
Good point. Yes, his team got swept, but he showed up.
Yeah, there's about 500 threads devoted to that in this forum.
We'll see. He's better than Bonner and Oberto, which is all that matters at the moment.Scola is much better than Gooden, who is known around the league as not the sharpest of tools in the shed.

Gooden superior to Scola
And against the great Duncan ! (and considering he had help from Z)
Pop did a fine job with Stephen Jackson; I'm not worried
Pretty much.
Funny how we let Scola go because “he wouldn’t fit in the Spurs system” and now they went after a guy that (stat wise) we can say is a "Scola clone" and a lot of people here think he will be our savior.
The Scola trade move is getting more and more ridiculously stupid as time goes by….
dude... Why don't you change your team tag to the Rockets?![]()
Your original post REALLY made you sound like you need to start appreciating what the Spurs FO have done for you... and probably a so called by yourself Spur fan included...
Think about it dude...
The only way your post is not rocket fan like, is if you were whottt fishing...
let it go dude...
and for the record... i have been thinking of changing my screen name to UruSpur...
Scola is much better than Gooden, the comparisons based only on numbers is near a joke and would be like people posting other guys averaging similar numbers to Manu and pretending that they were the same.
Some day fifty or sixty years from now there will be a great many elderly men in old age homes around the San Antonio area whose constant & obsessive use of the phrase ssscola!....ssscola!......sssscola! will drive nurses crazy.
and bent-over, disfigured by Scola-osis.
