Wow. In the draft room, the Spurs have a list of players, multiple great talents, but all under the heading "Not Spurs."
Damn, pretty dedicated to playing their own way.

Interesting info about draft night. They definitely made the right choice with Hill in choosing a guy with good character.
Yeah, saw that too. But at least they spelled "Gregg Popovich" right!
I think every "Greg Popovich" here at ST deservers something like Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Lu ck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_
Chalmers and Arthur both with a "NOT SPUR" flag then... then the weed thing at the hotel happened.. damn our scouts r bad ass...
Signed,
Dennis Rodman
Co-signed
Stephen Jackson
If you are somewhat proven and a "bad guy" you can be a Spur.
If you are rookie and a "bad guy" you cannot.
Still smart to limit it somewhat, but the Spurs do take on some questionable characters at times. If Beasley was a pot smoking, girl beating a-hole and he fell to the 26th spot last year, Spurs would have grabbed him.
I wonder how this guy slipped through the cracks then:
He was probably a big reason for the new recruiting changes.
Most of the "unclassy guys" we have had were not drafted by us.
It is a risk/reward calculation based on talent and possible problems. The guys mentioned in the video were not nearly talented enough to take if there was character issues, especially when there was a player just as good, if not better available.
If it was between a heroin addict Derrick Rose and George Hill, I bet Rose would be a Spur.
Nice video, definitely sums up what the Spurs are about. One word: TEAM.
