A welcome sight at the Spurs practice facility today: Manu Ginobili actually taking jump shots.
Ginobili hung around after practice to shoot some 3-pointers, under the watchful eye of the team's strength and conditioning staff. It was Ginobili's first significant on-court activity since last playing in a game, one month ago to the day. He has been battling a stress reaction in his right ankle.
"This is the first day he's had any movement on the court," coach Gregg Popovich said. "He's been on the court, stationary shooting. Today, he moved to shoot and that type of thing."
After the brief shooting session, Ginobili gathered with a Yalta Conference of athletic trainer Will Sevening, strength coach Mike Brungardt and head coach Gregg Popovich. Ginobili injured ankle appeared no worse for wear, but Ginobili will be re-evaluated Thursday to make sure.
He is still at least a week away from returning to game action.
Manu needs to get back. No rushing health, but the earlier he can return the better chance we have at keeping this No. 2 seed and developing better chemistry for the playoffs.
Good news that he has progressed from stationary to moving when shooting. As usual the Spurs will take it slow on the cautious side. We need him come playoff time otherwise this will be a short post season.
saw the video spurstdotcom posted on here... thanks for nothing Jeff...
In other news. Bonner took a dump, and there was corn in it. Rudy's BBQ last night is the diagnosis. His status is hour-to-hour
I always think this. Then again, some people don't watch the practice videos.
Or some people are on iphones or blackberries and can't view it
spursdotcom posted it on tweeter even before he uploaded the video so...
I expect Manu to gradually improve day by day, within 4-5 days he will be in full-contact practice maybe, after some light 2 on 2, 3 on 3 in the first couple of days.
Everytime you post, I enjoy seeing the Manu dunk you have on your sig page. Reminds fans of what we're missing. Hope he can dunk like that real soon.![]()
I'm glad Manu is getting better but I hope he's not rushed back too soon....a healthy Manu is a must for the Spurs to have a remote chance to make some noise in the playoffs.
Can't wait for Manu to get back!
my expectations are low for gooden, only thing i want him to do is rebound, rebound, rebound.
