Wow, didn't take Portland long to go back to being crap after their fluke win over the Lakers. I thought Brandon Roy was supposed to be the leader, yet LaMarcus Aldridge and Travis Outlaw outshoot him. Haha Blazers, what now??

So the Mavs are on a 3 game win streak without Josh.

Some wonder whether the Mavs are a better team without J-Ho.

Well the Mavs are 13-7 without J-Ho this year, and 27-18 with him, not that much of a difference.

But let's look deeper into the team stats.

In the 20 games J-Ho hasn't played, the Mavs haven't lost any games by 15+ points, and have a margin of victory of +3.15.

If we throw out the Clippers game as an outlier since Dirk wasn't playing (which seems to elevate J-Ho's game, it was his career high in assists), the Mavs have lost 9 of the remaining 44 games by 15+ points and have a margin of victory of +.54.

Interesting stats, could be variance since the sample size is so small but take it for what you will.

Unfortunately even if we're better without J-Ho, the team looks overreliant on the scoring of 2 players and starved of talent (Barea/Wright in the starting lineups).

But the difference between a 3.15 MoV and a .54 MoV is alarming.

Dude, J-Ho is a front runner. Thats who he is. They should have traded his ass long ago. His stats are all about the first half.

I dunno about "long ago", J-Ho was more than solid in the 06-07 season and the 1st half of 07-08.

A fine contributor the first 3 years before that, as well.

I started becoming vexed with J-Ho in February of 2008. I really didn't have a problem with his game beforehand, although the Mavs' depth and offense in the past made his late game disappearing acts far less vexing and noticeable. This was when I started noticing his new found love for the step back jumper.

Dude did have a 47 point game in December of 2007, after all.

Maybe I just didn't catch on faster than some.

You hear about Dirk, Kidd and Terry. Thats it. For the life of me I have no clue why they have not cut loose Howard. I am thinking the Mavs asking price is way to high. Thats Cubans mistake.

The Mavs payroll expected Howard to contribute in the 2nd half of any game let alone clutch time. Seriously the Mavs throw him in there when the game does not matter hoping he can get some points.

Howard knows it. He sits quietly on the bench when the game matters.

The Mavs are an enigma. An enigma that even at its most impressive, won't be good enough to beat any of the West's top teams in a series IF they make the playoffs. Portland got a big win against us and they basically let half the steam out of that win by losing to the Cubans.

Who cares that the Blazers beat the Lakers...the Lakers suck, right?

And who cares that the Mavs beat the Blazers...they suck too.

Obviously, the Blazers suck if they lost to the Mavs at home.

If it's not the Spurs or Jazz, why is the West even being discussed??
