Whatever.The only thing that caused me to post that article was because I happened to see it at the bottom of a page that someone else linked to. It's true you have not mentioned Palin and you have not said anything about teen pregnancy, but did you seriously believe this topic was going to lead to a discussion about how teen love seldom works out?

Who are the women? And to what, exactly, will they come around?
#1. The women who want to see a woman President just for the sake of seeing a woman President that weren't quite ready to jump parties because they were scared by the Roe V Wade leash the Democrats keep women on.
#2. The moderate women that didn't like Obama but voted for him because he was the known quan y, because they felt betrayed by Bush and were distrustful of McCain's intentions in selecting Palin.
#3. The conservative women that voted for Bush that voted against McCain expressly because he put a woman on the ballot.
In short...the women that voted for Bush that didn't vote for McCain, and then some.
And what they'll come around to is the realization that Palin is a non-politician, non lawyer, typical American, who governed as a centrist, not a conservative, and who was the most honest populist candidate on either ballot in this election and was smeared by the media.
Theres a reason why every election i dont usually vote for the popular party or opposition cause they usually have candidates, then you got the independents and smaller party's; voting for these clowns who have no affect on the election is just a waste of vote....since i rarely care who runs the country/state/councils....if theres a hot chick on the ballot sheet...she gets my preference vote; she wont win anyway.

Not at all...while those that think as the media tells them to are a powerful force(as mindless people always are when in large numbers), they weren't enough to swing the election by themselves, if they were Kerry would have won in 2004.
Palin was an overwhelming positive for the McCain campaign. Would not have been close without her.

So no mother should ever run for public office, or become any type of celebrity (actress, singer, etc.), because their children might not have a normal life and face your vehement dislike?
Seems like that kind of ideology sets the women's movement back a few years to me. Should we all quit our jobs and put our aprons back on?
She knew her daughter was pregnant and unmarried and chose to put her in this international spotlight as the candidate for VP. That is a far cry from the general exposure of having a mother as a celebrity and all the hypotheticals that could occur. Palin was already governor of a state and that was going to make it hard enough for the daughter as it was. Add on the mother's stance on sex education, and Sarah knew what she was setting her daughter up for- and did it anyway.

I'd be perfectly content being a housewife and stay-at-home mom, but I make too much to be able to afford that luxury. I like buying .
And IMO, celebrity is celebrity, whether garnered by musical talent or political a en, in the sense that people are judgemental assholes and if you put it out there, they are going to tear it up. I really fail to see the difference. A bigger stage? Does it really matter?
A lot of people apparently dislike Sarah Palin for whatever reason, and by association will crucify her daughter. That was going to happen whether she got knocked up, videotaped a threesome and broadcast it on the internet, or got drunk underage at a frat party with her friends. She wasn't going to be safe from all of the barracudas regardless. And whether or not Sarah Palin preached abstinence-only, that's on Sarah ... obviously Bristol doesn't share in her mother's philosophy. I wasn't aware that children were required to think exactly like their parents.
It's unfortunate that they broke up ... I hope he remains active in the child's life. Fortunately for her, it's unlikely she'll end up on food stamps.

I used to make a hefty salary until I realized there was more to life than money. Every woman has to make her own decisions and live by them and the consequences even if it is a few slaps and punches to the face.
