Hornets won their first division le in franchise history last season.
For the first time since 1975-76, the Miracle year. Back when the Pistons, Bulls and Bucks were in the West, the Rockets were in the East, and the Spurs, Nuggets, Pacers and Nets were in the ABA.
Been a long time coming. A lot of really good Cavaliers teams came and went without winning this division. Some juggernaut was always in their way. First it was the Bad Boys, then MJ's Bulls, and recently the Pistons teams with Chauncey, Rip and Rasheed. Five 50-win teams with nary a division leist among them. But this club has finally broken through.
May not seem like a big deal to you fans of teams that have actually won something, but it's a milestone for this franchise.![]()

They're definitely not playing their best basketball as they nearly lost to the lowly Clippers and Kings, but, to their credit, they staged amazing comebacks in each, and, managed to win both.
Congrats--Now beat those damn Celtics in the playoffs!
This thread isn't about the Hornets.
Congrats on the division le, it's not THE le but I still remember getting pissed that the Suns were #1 and the Lakers were behind the friggin' Clippers.
Teams are coming down the final stretch now, things are starting to heat up. Should be some great series this year.
division les had more meaning when there were only 2 per conference. ing bobcats had to come along and ruin everything
you should update your signature with:
2008-09 Central Division Champions
Break out the hats and t-shirts, let the champagne flow, then drop a banner mother ers...the Cavs are Central Division Champs!
don't forget to throw powder in the air for no ing reason
^Throw your powder in the air like ya just don't care.
Are you guys gonna hang up a central division championship banner?![]()
I bet the parade route gets leaked tomorrow and the Cavs end up losing in the first round.
Absolutely. It'll join the 1975-76 Central Division Championship banner in the rafters at the Q. They should hang a banner for the 2003 Draft Lottery alongside them, but that probably won't happen.
Really? Cool. Enjoy them t-shirts that emblazoned with “2009 Central Division Champions”
As for the Lakers, They want the ones that say “NBA champs.” All the rest are simply garage sale items.
Way to out where you shop for clothes.
