haha good one.
I ride the end of the bench most of the time. Sometimes I get some action if we're down -40 in the last quarter.
The coach puts me in the game when he wants to injure one of the opposing players.
i'm 5'9, 160 pounds. i usually play PG/SG though i'm not a terrific ball handler/slasher. so i usually just pass it to the guy that's best at slashing and try to get open for a jump shot. if there's a good center on my team, i just play pick and roll all day. if the defense sucks and doesn't pressure me, i have excellent court vision. i'm also great at catching and shooting. one thing i pride myself in is defense. i can guard any position except for a very large center or when the person is just ridiculously taller than me like 6'2+. if i'm not needed much on the offensive end, i've successfully guarded someone who was 6'0", 235 lbs at center. i can even guard the quickest slashers i play against.
I am 182 cm tall and 83 kg. My position is playmaker. However i really like driving the lane. It is my basket. The big guys just can't get me. I often get the backet and the foul. On the other hand i rarely shoot 3s or mid range baskets. I really have a problem there. I only try stepback jumpers like Manu. You just can't block them. And i am also a great passer. I really enjoy giving assists. Finally i play nice D.
I am the kind that wins
I'm 6'7", 220lbs and a born centre - I don't really want to leave the low post unless I have to. I've played ball for 18 years, although I've never been better than right now after spending 2 years in Japan running with midgets, and then the last 18 months in the gym developing strength. I started playing regularly again a few months ago after years of bad ankles, and I'm totally loving it!
I have a highly developed low post game modeled on Hakeem and Tim: a killer drop step both ways, baby hooks to both hands (I'm a righty, but my left hook is actually better which confuses the out of defenders), baseline spins, up-and-unders, a fadeaway which I rarely use. I also have a money 15fter from pretty much anywhere in the court if I'm open, and I can drive both ways. I also know how to attack guys - post smaller or quicker guys, take bigger/slower guys outside and shoot/drive on them. I pretty much demand a double team in most scrimmages I play these days.
On D I like to stay around the rim, but most of the time end up chasing smaller guys around which is a major pain. I'm a good rebounder without being exceptional, although I can be very good when concentrating on blocking out and playing with others who do likewise. I used to block a lot of shots, but these days I try to protect my body and don't tear-arse around the court trying to block . Instead I just play fundamental D, stay on the ground, and use my length (6'10" wingspan) to bother or block shots.
Never made it to elite compe ion, although I always played a high standard of men's amateur 'ball and won two les along the way. I often wonder what could have been if I had bulked up when I was younger, and understood basketball then as well as I do now.
PS Kurt - you are NOT the biggest Spurs fan in Australia.
I'm a defense specialist. My teammates call me "Last stand on Fiji".
I am not good at basketball.
Formerly 6'0, now 5'11 shooting guard/point guard (knee and back). Played on a state championship basketball team not too long ago, but our depth and total sacrificing for them team made it hard for anyone to stand out, so I didn't pursue college ball without a scholarship, although I regret it. I'm quick like Wade the only way to stop me is to foul. Mostly a midrange shooter, but extremely streaky and will hit 3's at will if I'm on, or won't even shoot one at all if I'm feeling "off." Used to be a good dunker and long arms, so I can guard anyone under 6'5ish if they're not really bulky. Not really a superstar type player, I'm more comfortable as the number 2 option. more of an all around guy. I love to play defense. My high school coach called me "the best perimeter defender" on our team.
How many of are you lieing?
I'll take that challenge
5'7
Left-handed
Played some organized BB...
I had a lot o games where I would miss the easiest shots, but I would always make the winning baskets with Nashesque or Ginobilesque shots
I'm really comfortable when it comes to take big shots
Those situations were funny; most of the time, it looked like my teammates didn't want to pass the ball to me, but they had no choice, because the D was tight on them, and also because the opposing team didn't care about me
But yeah, I'm ing clutch !!!!!
(also, I'm a pest on defense)
Why in the world would anyone lie?
I am sure a lot of people see themselves better players than they really are... (including me) But hey, some confidence is needed to be a good player!![]()
Haha i never noticed that! Nice observation....
not good enough for the NBA![]()
UH, YEAH.
i'd go so far as to say you can go ahead and engrave mookies and my names on the spurstalk tourney trophy. Utter domination on both ends. no contest.
We will see about that
Oh yes sir.
then set something up and let the domination begin!
is that a pile of poop on your avatar?
I'm 6'4" and about 200 lbs. I played on the high school team when I was in 5th and 6th grade, but not because I was good; I was tall and they didn't have enough players otherwise. I used to be a good shooter, but haven't played more than one or two games per year for many years (if that). My ballhandling skills were never good, but I am very good at losing my defender without the ball or guarding other players, especially ball denial. For some reason even when I wasn't in the best shape, I could summon extra energy when everyone else was worn out and play like I'd only started.
I'm basically just a spectator now though (wish I'd been a Spurs fan when I was a kid, I might have put a little more time into developing my game). Go Spurs and Gig 'em Aggies!
Don't change the subject ! Oh I'll set it up alright !
...and I was standing on a step. David is a legit 7'2", and an incredibly nice fella. That was taken last time I was in SA in 2007. Wish I didn't have the hat hair though...![]()
5'9" and 150 lbs. I'm pretty lean and muscular. Usually play PG/SG, with average handles. I play play kinda like Rip Hamilton with a crappier midrange. I run my defender ragged, which is funny because I had the worst stamina in the world for the longest time.
Best move has to be the Tony Parker teardrop in the lane, it's damn near unblockable. I got a pretty good post game against players my size (5'7" - 6'0"), mostly with up and unders and fade aways.
I'm a far better defender than I am on offense though. Lockdown perimeter defender a la Bruce Bowen, using my quick to my advantage. I'm a pretty good rebounder for my size mainly due to my hops (I can barely dunk).
I'm a 2 in a 1's body. Pretty good jumper, but I need screens. Can't shoot over anyone -- I'm only 5'6". I look for the pass and don't like to take dumb shots. But don't leave me open because if I have my legs, I can make just about any J from 25’ and in.
What generally happens, however, is that I don't ever get any touches. This is not unexpected when playing with guys who are way bigger, and better, than you are. So I will revert from my preferred shooter's role to more of a hustler -- setting picks, doubling on D, and chasing after loose balls. This is tiring and messes up my shooting, but it's the only way to stay on the floor.
