The Lakers are certainly lucky that they play in Hollywood/LA, they're still #3 behind Celtics & Knicks in profitability.

I'm the first to admit alot of the Lakers success comes from their being in LA...lots of expectations and the money to go with it.

The amazing thing about the Spurs is that they've won 4 rings in the last 10 years with a shoestring budget.
I'm impressed that you are aware of how amazing that is. Nice to have you here, at least you don't just rant and rave about the Lakers and hate on the Spurs. To a reasonable Laker fan

I kinda wish the NBA was more like the NFL, in that you couldn't exceed the cap....you simply have to either cut players or have them restructure to fit into the cap parameters.

Now, on the other hand, the luxury tax idea is a great one, but I wish the penalties for exceeding it were a bit steeper, instead of being penalized $1 for $1 for the amount you go over the threshold, maybe it could be $1.50 for $1 you go over the threshold. So if you go over by $20 million, instead of playing $40 million, you would actually have to play $50 million in luxury tax.

Like I stated in an earlier post, I doubt we have enough to go after Ariza....but it sure would be sweet if we could get him.

Ideally, I would like for the Spurs to re-sign Gooden, bring Gist over from Europe, and then sign Ariza.

    2009-2010
    C - Bonner, Ian, Thomas
    PF - Duncan, Gooden, Oberto
    SF - Ariza, Bowen, Gist
    SG - Mason, Manu, Finley
    PG - Parker, Hill, Hairston

I'd love Ariza on the Spurs. He would be our 3d best player right away.

Pretty much, I'll take any Laker over any Spur (outside of Tim) at a similar position and size. They are that much better.

Against the Mavs not a real team that can play D. Oh yeah you are one of those LA fans that think their team will sweep every team and win it all.
Which part of what he said mentioned anything about a sweep?

I'd do it. TP is great, but the Laker PGs (Fisher, Vujacic, and especially Farmar) are almost equal. And cost much less.

I'd take Fisher for sure. $$ in the clutch. And his shot is a beauty to behold. But Farmar is the one I'd really want. Parker for Farmar. He'd start for us, and Parker would back up Fisher.

This is ing ridiculous. Parker is a top five PG in the league, right now. Farmar is so inconsistent. I can't believe you are serious about this.

26 points 3 steals today against the Mavs. The Spurs wish they had a player like Ariza. Bowen can't even sniff Ariza's jockstrap at this point.
    Bowen's done better than that...

    in the playoffs...

    against the LAL...

Those days are gone unless you're one of those fans who like living in the past like Ghazi.

I agree Parker is top 5. But Farmar could also be Top 5 with enough minutes. He consistently owns the Spurs when they play. And he costs much, much less.

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. Parker for any of the Laker points. Ginobili for Kobe (I could dream), Mason or Bowen for Ariza, and any of our bigs (except Tim) for any of their bigs (Odom, Walton, Bynum, even Mbenga). The Laker players are, generally speaking, that much better.

You better put down that Thunderbird. Farmar is a serviceable back-up PG. Nothing more. And Fisher is a serviceable starting PG. Nothing more. Parker is an elite PG. Way better than both of those guys.

If you're so in love with the LA players, maybe you're a closeted Lakers fan.
