    San Antonio:
This one comes with an asterisk, because much of San Antonio's edge in bench points has come from Manu Ginobili, and he's effectively a starter. However, it goes much deeper than that. Manu has been hurt so often that three other Spurs reserves (George Hill, Bruce Bowen and Kurt Thomas) have played more minutes, and San Antonio's plus-267 disparity between starters and subs is the smallest of any Western contender except the Jazz.Of course, the Spurs will have a couple of positives to offset that if everything goes according to plan -- Manu's again-delayed return being most prominent, and a likely No. 2 seed also proving helpful. Nonetheless, a rematch against the Hornets, Rockets or Blazers -- all of whom have outscored the Spurs with their starters on the floor -- could prove problematic based on the data above.

I really love the fact that he found a way to rationalize that the Spurs bench playing well is bad. I can't wait til he writes his ALL BOW DOWN TO LEBRON article.

He's not a cocsucker, he's a PERsucker. Everything he writes is based on the most recent PER numbers. Then he projects those very same PER numbers out to get how team will finish.

Obviously, this is not very accurate; but that's his gig.

Hollinger is a bag that has no basketball knowledge whatsover. He's a calculator nerd that will never have any actual intelligence when it comes to this sport.

He may not be bullish on the Spurs this year, but, Hollinger hasn't been afraid to praise them in the past. His blog entry from 5/20/08 points out that he'd picked the Spurs to win the three years prior.

I'm one of the few people that doesn't have any dislike for Hollinger..he admits he goes strictly by stats and that his PER stat has some flaws, and I have no problem with that..this article is also correct, because it's basically implying that we need Manu to make up the difference, which is obvious..

however, Hollinger obviously loses a lot of credibility with his statements, particularly earlier in the season when he proclaimed that we wouldn't make the playoffs..

hollinger is ridiculous, he used to always put the spurs ranked like #10 on his power rankings earlier this season. the jazz, rockets, hornets and sixers were better than the spurs by his power rankings.

if you can give a respectable reason any of those teams were better, then fine. but when the rest of his colleagues are putting the spurs in the top 5, it makes him look like a complete idiot

if i had a link to his past pages, i'd put it here, but i don't so take my word

    Data, what data.
Data is too serious a word for this guy.

Hollinger predicted the Spurs to MISS the playoffs three months ago.

He also predicted the Suns to be in top 4.

How can this guy make a living out of this crap?
