I didn't mean to start an uprising.

If I remember correctly, it was a lot of work. There's the design, if it was updated. There's the work of getting shipping costs around the world, and then getting them packaged and shipped. Not to mention the handling of the money, both up front to get it made and then the way payments tend to dribble in.

I'm in for buying one, but someone has to do the work. It's not a small task.

The work wasn't an issue. For legal reasons, we were asked not to sell the shirts.

I didn't remember that, if it was made public. I had the thread handy from the Clippers game, I wanted the SpursTalk logo. Sorry to stir stuff up, that wasn't my intent.

legal reasons? i would think not using the spurs logo is enough to get by all the legal mumbo jumbo. maybe i'm wrong?

they have a logo... they have a few trademarks... but nothing spurstalk or spurstalk.com unless the spurs organization went and registered those behind your back. hmm. oh well.

if there's a demand... sooner or later you'll see it on the side of the street under a little tent surrounded by other bootleg shirts. haha.

it contains the word "spurs" which is owned by the team and nba. it would have to be licensed by the league and/or team.

and let's not do anything stupid or bootleg to over the incredibly nice people who run and pay for this great free site.

haha... i don't think they could trademark "spurs" but maybe i'm wrong? guess i'll just go trademark "basketball" or "association" or "national" right now and see what the nba thinks of that.

ps: don't read to much into my last reply. i am not for bootleggin' and ruining the ST name. i was simply saying if there's a demand there is bound to be a supplier show up sooner or later.

they definitely can trademark and own team names. doesn't mean you can't own a bar called "the spur" for example, but if it were a basketball-themed bar with a black and silver color scheme, that would definitely be an infringement. a lot of it is about context. and the context of an ST t-shirt is clearly basketball-related.

How can they own the word "spurs"?!?!?

Oh and just for the newbies here's the original design. It's a rarety among collectors and worth big $$$...

Seriously. Can they own a word like "spurs"? Where can I buy the word " "? I'm thinking that would be a nice investment...

Ya, think about this. You can legally own and operate a website called "SpursTalk", but you cannot print a shirt with the word "Spurs"? So I guess the makers of real

had a raging legal battle with our San Antonio Spurs.

I can understand not using the NBA logo, or the Spurs logo, but SpursTalk should be allowed.
