the hack a shaq. the double thumbs up and smile were perfect.
The pointed Hack-a-Shaq within first 5 secs of start of game (season), was a good one.

Pop and Sean were walking around San Francisco during a CA (probably a GS) road trip and Pop passed a wine store and wanted to go in. Later Sean went looking for Pop in the store and found him on all fours scrounging on the bottom levels of the wine rack looking for "hidden wine finds".
Sean started laughing and Pop looked up and said to him: "I know it's a sickness". He then explained that this was where you could them.
But the real measure of the man is his humility and integrity. Years ago when Pop left the AF and began his basketball coaching career at Pimona Pitzer, a lower Division level though academically attuned school but an athletic doormat, he and his family lived in the dormitory for a few semesters, he drove the team bus early on and supervised campus intramurals. He wasn't wealthy, well known or 'silver spooned". He turned them into contenders and they even won their school's conference (twice I think) long before he teamed up with Larry Brown and Don Nelson before coming into the NBA or Spurs. That's why Pop is better than ex-player NBA coaches because he did the best with what he had and gave a maximum effort win or lose.
Can you imagine a Phil Jackson living in a dorm or driving the team bus? I have never heard a peer or player (perhaps Rodman) say a truly negative thing about his goals and values. And he could have left to go to some NBA teams long before and made millions more elsewhere.
He has been the best thing that has ever happened to the San Antonio Spurs.
After they won the le in 2003 in the locker room before they popped open the bubbly, Pop said something to the effect of "that was the worst opening quarter I've ever seen!" and then all the players are like "but it was the best 4th!" and they all go nuts!
