Isn't calling Bush a "war criminal" an indictment of his policies? If you were to call Obama a "tax and spend politician", isn't that an indictment of his policies?
And yes, some people do just bash Bush as well. I prefer bashing policy.
Bush gets all the credit for the Democratic landslide victory in 2008.

Pronunciation note:
In pronouncing nuclear, the second and third syllables are most commonly said as /-kliər/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [-klee-er] Show IPA , a sequence of sounds that directly reflects the spelled sequence ‑cle⋅ar. In recent years, a somewhat controversial pronunciation has come to public attention, with these two final syllables said as /-kyələr/[-kyuh-ler]. Since /-kliər/[-klee-er], the common pronunciation of ‑cle⋅ar, might also be represented, broadly, as /-kləyər/[-kluh-yer], the /-kyələr/[-kyuh-ler] pronunciation can be seen as coming from a process of metathesis, in which the /l/[l] and the /y/[y] change places. The resulting pronunciation is reinforced by analogy with such words as molecular, particular, and muscular, and although it occurs with some frequency among highly educated speakers, including scientists, professors, and government officials, it is disapproved of by many.

Fascinating. I learned a new word today. Metathesis.
Formally acceptable in a purely acedemic way? Perhaps.
Does it make you look like a goober? Yes.
If you mean:
Liberals are ignorant of how Bush's failures gave them political advantage.
I dare you to find ONE liberal who cannot so acknowledge.
Just ONE.
I triple-dog ing dare your dumb ass to back that statement up with ANY statement by ANY liberal that can even remotely support that.
If you mean:
Bush advanced some policies that were more liberal than conservative, and liberals don't acknowledge/know that.
I would ask:
Some of his policies were indeed not 100% dyed in the wool conservative, and where somewhat centrist. If you really want to claim that somehow Bush was a closet liberal and really truly advanced traditional liberalism, what policies, pray tell, are you talking about?
Nuance would require stating how Obama advocates troops in one area (Afghanistan) and would rather have troops out of another area (Iraq.)
It's just a fancy way to say some people mispronounce certain kinds of words wrong.![]()
I wouldn't. I'm just saying if Obama truly believes Iraq is unjust, he could move out of there faster and more concrete than he's doing right now.
Obama's withdrawal is contigent on events, so his withdrawal is not really grounded on his prinicipal.
Logical FAIL.
I firmly believe in the principle that I need to drive home from work today.
According to the logic in the above post, if I truly believed that I should drive there at top speed, no matter how reckless that turns out to be, because if I did anything less than top speed, I wouldn't have believed in my starting principle in the first place.
By the way, clambake, I wanted to find this post because, I saw a clip of the press conference you allude to [you posted at 11:47 and I was watching a news report on his speaking to the press at around noon) and, sorry to disappoint, but if you noticed, Obama's head was constantly shifting from 45 degrees to the left of the podium to 45 degrees to the right of the podium and he never looked straight ahead more than momentarily.
Dead give away of him having a teleprompter.
What's even more laughable is that when you have to have a teleprompter for supposedly "extemporaneous" speaking moments, that means there's some poor staffer back at a computer somewhere, pushing buttons to bring up the correct responses.
prove it.
Sorry, I wasn't there. You prove he wasn't using a teleprompter.
WTF does it matter about a damn teleprompter. Such damn whiners.
how do you prove something thats never been established?
That's your problem. Not mine. But, we do know he's relied on the teleprompter for other, rather mundane, announcements such as appointment introduction and ceremonial blurbs. And, he's being criticized from all quarters on his dependence on the teleprompter. , his camp even made a big deal about trying to wean him from the device on a trip to Hawaii.
Is it so hard to believe he was using a teleprompter? I saw a news clip of the speech you were watching at noon that day and his head moved in the manner indicative of a person reading from a teleprompter. Given his reliance on the device, I say it's more likely than not he was.
I understand, this is now more about you being wrong than it is about whether or not he was actually using one. So, go for it.
Let's see if we can find footage of the speech and decide for ourselves...
i have a friend thats on villaraigosa's staff. i'll ask her this weekend.
fair enough?
I don't know if that's fair or not, who can vouch for yours or your friends honesty? I don't know either of you. But, if you want to go to the trouble and rely on my just blindly trusting you, sure...go ahead.
i wouldn't care if it's yes or no.
i'm a man of my word.
If you say so.
it sounds like you're ready to prejudge just one of the answers.
Well, you are asking a lot. But, hey, maybe you'll convince me. Although, Villaraigosa isn't an pillar of integrity, himself which -- of course -- transfers to staff.
But, try me.
All I know, is I watched the footage and he was metronomically bobbing back and forth from 45 degrees to the left to 45 degrees to the right, rarely and only momentarily stopping to look in any other direction. It only caught my attention because of your post...and your certainty you were watching him -- at that moment -- speaking without a teleprompter. And how nice it was to have an intelligent president for a change.
This particular incident notwithstanding, and I still believe he was using one...his well established reliance on a teleprompter, and his gaffes without one, should be an indicator if his inability to communicate effectively.
It certainly doesn't make him intelligent.
WHy is it fail?
Do you work for an unjust job?
And are you comparing jobs to war which is more complicated....
ok.
coming from you, this is
my post never included anything about teleprompters. this is your baggage, remember? All I know, is I watched the footage and he was metronomically bobbing back and forth from 45 degrees to the left to 45 degrees to the right, rarely and only momentarily stopping to look in any other direction. It only caught my attention because of your post
you just said this, twice, in the same paragragh....and your certainty you were watching him -- at that moment -- speaking without a teleprompter. And how nice it was to have an intelligent president for a change.
yeah, thats what the voters thought, too. This particular incident notwithstanding, and I still believe he was using one...his well established reliance on a teleprompter, and his gaffes without one, should be an indicator if his inability to communicate effectively.
yeah, who knows, maybe he's using other peoples written thoughts and acting like they're his own.It certainly doesn't make him intelligent.
you know what i mean?
Your post was made in the context of criticism about his reliance on a teleprompter.
You apparently need the reinforcement.
He's very good at what he does, I'll give him that.
Maybe
I'm not the President, I'm not running for president nor is my participation on this board a part of any public trust. I'm honored you'd make comparison between my plagiarism and his [alleged] inability to speak extemporaneously or use his own words.
Thanks!
no it wasn't. your paranoia is winning.
with run-on sentences? You apparently need the reinforcement.
i wonder if he can appriciate that. He's very good at what he does, I'll give him that.
you said "alleged". that must have stung.[/QUOTE]I'm not the President, I'm not running for president nor is my participation on this board a part of any public trust. I'm honored you'd make comparison between my plagiarism and his [alleged] inability to speak extemporaneously or use his own words.
You're being disingenuous if, after reading the first 9 posts of this thread then, encountering yours [above] (the 10th post), you don't think it was made as a defense and in the context of others mocking Obama for his reliance on a teleprompter.
And I'm supposed to trust that you'll honestly seek the truth from this Villaraigosa staffer? If, in fact, that's even true...
