Is it just me, or is this the freakin dumbest idea ever? We've already got a problem with injuries & overall player health in the NFL, and they want to tack on a couple more games?

Not to mention the fact that this will further bas ize all stats & records. 1000 yards rushing is a pretty average year for a RB already, but the number 1000 is still symbolic & significant enough that Tomlinson will work his ass off to get his 1000 yards before sitting out for the playoffs. Now with more games, every team in the NFL will probably have a 1000 yard rusher.

16 games already seems like it's pushing the limit, i think 18 games would be a disaster.

I think it's the best idea ever. The Patriots will have a shot at going 20-1

yeah 16 weeks is plenty of time to know who deserves to be in the playoffs and who doesnt.

what I wish they would so is ditch a couple of weeks of worthless preseason football.

I don't understand why anyone would want to pay full admission price to see scrubs play in a game that means nothing.

Its a violent sport. Adding 2 more games would add more risk to injuries. The cost to watch a game is out of control. Asking season ticket holders for more money would be wrong. 16 games is more than enough.

Bad idea. Playoff teams will start sitting their "star" players and starters late in the season for whole games even more than they already do.
16 games is plenty. Maybe if they cut the preseason down to 2 games and add 2 to the regular season it should be discussed but i don't like this. Players are getting torn up out there as it is.
    Money whoring owners.

According to this article that is the plan.

Yes, exactly - the owners voted to shorten the preseason by 2 games and extend the regular season by 2. The result is the same amount of games with ideally less injuries in preseason. The argument from most folks is that teams need more than 2 games to get their personell ready to play ball.
