Who would be the best opponent to knock The Collusionist Lakers out in Round 1? With Stern and marketing forces doing all they can to have the Lakers in the Finals, who at #8 seed could derail them in Round 1?

While i do not think they will fall to #8, i say Portland.

    Dallas? Nah.
Phx? Well they would be my 2nd choice.
Utah? Can't win on the road.
San Antonio? Oh without a doubt they have no chance in a battle of wits of Popped vs Phil but slim to none chance the Spurs will slip to #8.

    So who will it be?

As each day passes I get more convinced that the Mavs are going to tank and miss the playoffs. Not on purpose, just because they suck. Which is fine because Suns/Lakers would be far more entertaining basketball.

Blazers...though I don't think they could beat them. I think they would beat up on them pretty good like New Orleans did to the Spurs last year.

Instead of scrambling to find teams to beat the Lakers, why not just do it yourself.
    Lord Poppy is incapable.

I actually think the Suns have the best chance of any western team to beat the Lakers in the playoffs. That might sound crazy but thats my honest opinion. Hopefully Phoenix makes it.

Lakers are playing so well right now. They definitely are a step up every team right now. I would love to see the long shot Suns give it a try! I'd love to see Shaq duncing on his old team.

This is why people generally hate Laker fans.

Mavs and Blazers would probably face a 1st round sweep. Suns would win one game without Amare.

    Gotta go with the Jazz.

No, I think the Lakers are very beatable. Their the #1 seed for a reason, but they are by no means flawless.

for a game or two, sure. But in all honesty--barring injury--do you "really" see a team from the West beating LA 4 out of 7 times?...especially when not one of them has proven they can do it twice this year. Yes, we Laker fans can be arrogant, but can you really blame us this year?

Ahead of you in Gm 1 by 20 pts late 3rd qtr last year before PopaCement took Bruce Bowen off Kobme and ordered the Stand n Veg offense.

Then he stuck with 60% GNob until finally installing Barry in Gm 5. Barry lit it up and the Lakers were a bull non call on Derek Swisher from losing another game.

Lakers are very beatable. Eliminate Poppy vs Phil and I'd make it a tossup or even favor the Spurs roster.

As for the reg season wins, suck out at Boston by one point. I do give the Lakers much props for beating Boston, Cle, Hou and Spurs all together.

Probably a million more until you justify your response. LA has DOMINATED THE WEST THIS YEAR, and has lost only 1 home game all year to a WC team (NO)...please explain why you feel any of the other 7-8 teams in the west playoff race have a shot at knocking them off. Don't just come with conjecture and hypotheticals--what empirical evidence have you seen this year gives any indication that such an upset is possible (barring injury)?
