It is very possible that Mrs Bryant is a tough woman to work for, but this story is so terribly one-sided that I hesitate to believe it- though I am certainly no fan of Kobe's.
Since the housekeeper tried to quit, she clearly had the financial means to quit- I.E. she was not stuck working there.
Also, the fact that the housekeeper stayed because Kobe talked her out of quitting, suggests that she had at least some regard for Kobe and his opinion and was willing to tolerate Mrs. Bryant.
There comes a point- fairly early on, I think- in which you are to blame for staying and taking it if your boss is verbally abusive to you.
If you don't want to work for a jerk, then don't.
