J.J. Barea on Spurs and Rockets: 'I know they don't want to play us'
The Mavericks' mantra is that they aren't scared to play any team in a seven-game series. But they apparently believe that there are some teams that don't want any part of them in the playoffs.
"We want to move up at least one position, because I know we really match up good against San Antonio and Houston," J.J. Barea said on ESPN 103.3 FM this afternoon. "I know they don't want to play us."
I seriously doubt any Spur or Rocket would fess up to that.
The Rockets have won two of three meetings with the Mavs this season, including holding off a Barea-fueled comeback attempt in Houston last month. The Rockets will end the regular season in Dallas in a game that will likely determine playoff seeds.
The Spurs and Mavs split the season series.
Give the Mavs this: For a team sitting in the eighth spot, they sure have a lot of swagger.

If the Mavs stay ahead of the Suns, they'd better shoot for that 7th seed. The Spurs and Rockets are going to have a tougher time with Dallas than, say, the Lakers.
